I give this hotel 4 starts only because it's a new hotel and the staff were nice however it wasn't the beat experience. We checked I late on a Friday night and after my little one used the toilet it stopped up. I called down to the front desk and she informed she was the only person in the building so she couldn't leave her post and the housekeeping office was probably locked. She confirmed it was locked when I came down to the front desk then she left to check the kitchen area and it was locked as well. My husband was out for a bachelor party so I had to buy him to bring a plunger back to the hotel. He was quite a drive away so we had to wait until my husband arrived so that he could unstop the toilet. The other issue I had that evening was when I took my shower I noticed the shower walls had not been cleaned thoroughly and there were spots of some sort on the ceiling not to mention the top part of the glass shower wall was smeared from.poor cleaning. At this point I thought, i need to pay closer attention to the cleanliness of the hotel because it appeares yo ne lacking.
It had rained throughout the night and I could hear the rain hit the window. When I woke the next morning to raise the blinds I noticed it had been raining inside the window and running down the wall on to the floor. My husband grabbed towels to place at the window seal and quickly called the front desk to nice us to another room. We move from 708 to 509 I like the way the room was situated. We had room to walk between the bed a sleeper sofa bed, when let out unlike the other room. We bring our items to the room and rich out to take care of what we came to Deleware for. When I got back I noticed spots on the bathroom floor they looked like blood droplets but I couldn't be sure. So I took a Clorox wipe to get it up and realized that the floors may not have been mopped on a regular basis because of how dirty the wipe was. Then noticed spots on the kitchen floor as well as splatters up under the counter top wall as if it hadn't been cleaned In a while. Some of the furniture appeared a little more worn than it should for a new hotel. The corner of the TV stand were scraped away. I thought for a moment I may have been too picky but when I looked at my sons and my socks after walking around that room I knew I was right! ( they were black)
They're half cleaning those rooms. I give this hotel another year it will look ran down from the lack of upkeep around there.
The breakfast buffet area was nice and clean the attendant there did a good job with keeping everything fresh and clean even though she was working alone. The only complaint I have there were the trash cans...
Read moreI came into this hotel at 3:30pm and I had to go to a friends wedding at 5pm. I went to reception to ask if I could check into a hotel room early so I could change into my suit for the wedding. I understood that this was a long shot, as the official check-in time was 4pm, and they may not have any clean rooms available. ||However before I said anything, the receptionist without even looking up from his phone said "No rooms available". I made a reservation 3 weeks ago, so I told him I already have a reservation. He said "I don't have a room for you". I was in shock, as I was never told that was the case, and again I had to change for the wedding and I wasn't sure if any hotels were nearby. I said my reservation wasn't cancelled and there should be a room available for me to check into. He looked up from his phone, and said that the maids don't have a list of clean rooms for me to check into until they handed it to him. I asked when I could check in, he said 4pm, the official check in time. He said to come back in 30 minutes, and he may be able to help me then. He also didn't bother to ask for my name or any way to contact me when the rooms are available||I waited in my car for half an hour, and came back. I managed to check in without issue. As there is not many options for overnight parking, I went to the valet to park the car with the hotel. As I was talking to the Valet (who is extremely polite and helpful), the receptionist interrupted us to demand a "Thank you". I was extremely incredulous that this man demanded me a thank you for doing his job. I simply ignored him and kept talking to the valet. He then yelled a "Your Welcome!" as he was walking away.||Honestly the hotel is extremely nice with the lobby being very well kept. The room is big and the included kitchen inside is very modern and generous with the appliances. The gym is also clean and though I didn't need it, the business center and conference rooms were very private and ordered. The hotel breakfast is very good, with plenty of options restocked very quickly. The other staff is great, being friendly and polite. The hotel itself is one of the best hotels I stayed in recent memory. Its just that this receptionist made such a terrible impression that I must write...
Read moreThis was our second, and most likely, last stay at this hotel. Check-in went smoothly and the front desk person was very friendly and informative. However, it went downhill from there. We were given room 716, which was described as a king studio with sofa bed. We were in town for a college convocation and commencement so we checked into the room, unpacked our things, and went to the convocation. When we returned and got ready for bed, we attempted to open & make up the sofa bed. Turns out it was not a sofa bed, despite the sticker on the sofa, that stated It was a sofa bed and linens were in the closet (photo below). No sofa bed and no linens - grr! Tried to call the front desk from the phone that had a sticker for room 323 – no one answered at the front desk nor did anyone answer at housekeeping, so we ended up calling the main number from our own phone. The front desk told us to pull up the bar on the sofa bed, as if we didn’t know how to work a sofa bed. We told him that there was no bar so he sent maintenance. I apologize for these unkind words - the maintenance guy looked like a crack addict and barely spoke English. He checked the sofa and realized what we already knew, so he left the room & contacted the front desk who called us saying we could change rooms. Not at all convenient as it was after 11pm, we were already dressed for bed and we needed to be up early for the graduation. But we had no choice since there were 3 of us so we moved to the room next door which was much smaller & much warmer than the other one.
We are platinum members and requested a 1:00 check out. When we returned to the room after the ceremony at 12:30, the door was ajar and housekeeping had already come in, stripped the beds & started cleaning the bathroom. WTH? We had not even checked out yet. We notified the front desk worker who apologized and placed the blame on the previous shift. Having read other reviews, it is apparent that this blame shifting is a pattern. A similar thing happened at another Marriott where we stayed at the beginning of the month. Come on Marriott - this is not...
