Great place to train. Really left because I had to move and was going through having to work 2 jobs. Honestly had a great time training at this MuayThai gym. The only thing I do not like about this gym in particular is it's the only MMA gym in the area. I moved to wilson for a short time. Went to an even better muay thai gym in a new state. This is a great gym that will give you the tools you need to train. But make sure you take advantage of the free trial before you buy. I also quit going to the gym because I wanted to go to a gym that had coach's with more experience in muay thai. Also they will say " if you don't wanna be the best you can be go to joe blows karate shack." Which is them trying to say we're the best gym. I don't like lectures. The new gym I train gave me private lessons to become better. Whereas this gym didn't. I learned to jump rope better, throw punches better, and the instructor is from Thailand and has been training for 15 years. Not saying this to be negative or mean. I genuinely loved this muay thai gym. But I have to be brutally honest as well as truthful in my response. This place will give you a great basis to learn. But if this gym doesn't work for you. Don't be worried or fooled into thinking this gym is the only option. They have gyms that don't play favorites that make more pro fighters and the coaches pay attention to you more vs just being an amateur. I gave it 4 stars because it's still a phenomenal gym. Great gym but as honest as I can possibly be. The only reason I went to a new gym in a new state is because the lack of money that's being put to refurbish the gym, the lecturing, and a little bit of lack of respect to train certain people who are genuinely new. A coach shouldn't have pot plants on his thai boxing shorts that's really stupid, what good fighter indulges in that. Honestly not trying to be mean or even negative. I wanted to give my brutally honest opinion. If you're new you should definitely have motivation and have toughness in how you're training but if there's no genuine respect being given and are looked at as a dollar bill ,find a new gym. After learning basic stuff then you should be able to spar. Sparring is how great fighters become the best. Don't spend money on a place you've been training at and running every day and working out everyday for if coaches may overlook you. Or look at new people who can do little things better than you and give them more time. I moved states and didn't necessarily have this dynamic at another gym where the coach not only has his credentials in being a kru but has made real word champions. Great gym just little things I had genuine problems with. You should totally go to this gym. I didn't make this to be mean or negative. What may work for some people in a MuayThai gym may not work for you. The coaches there are great. Didn't make this to be mean. Theres great people at this gym. Just felt that amateurs got more out of it than new people. I came to only learn muay thai but honestly some people wanna be MMA or boxing. Should be a little bit more for jiu-jitsu. Like having a larger mat space could help. Don't think that this gym is your only option if you don't feel like you're growing. It's actually a really good gym. This is my review this isn't necessarily the view of everyone else. It's a good gym. It was genuinely little things I didn't like. Just make sure that you do a freetrial before a membership. Also payed for gloves and never got them. But it's a good gym. Not being negative or trying to slander this gym. Its a really good gym. You will work hard to become good at any MuayThai gym if you want it bad enough. You should be open to the idea what works for others won't always work for you. Get a coach who will take the time to train you to become the best. It shouldn't be that amateurs get more attention than new people. Also it's one thing to motivate and use toughness in how people train. But as an associate coach you should do you're job better. Great gym just little things I...
Read moreI spoken with Kru Bishop (owner of Kai Thai) over the phone and to hear so much passion for the Art he possessed; I was excited about attending Kai Thai Academy. Mr. Bishop welcomed my family to attend several free classes and we all was left feeling fulfilled. A great environment, friendly and welcoming people, and Kru Bishop is a fantastic instructor. Needless; to say my 8 year old son and I joined Kai Thai Academy and within every session we left feeling we learned something. Never have I ever felt excited about exercising until I joined Kai Thai. I advise anyone and everyone to attend. You...
Read moreThis place is awesome! Very friendly staff and members. Within 10 minutes of my first session I was sweating like crazy and struggling to keep up. I did not have my own boxing gloves but they loaned me a pair for the first class and even so kindly wrapped my hands for me! They offer many forms of MMA. I took the kick boxing class but they offer grappling and even have special classes just for women and classes specifically for children. A great place to get in shape, gain self confidence and feel safer...
