Ruckus & Redemption — Restaurant in Wilson

My family of seven reported to this establishment today to celebrate my Mom’s 60th bday. We’re excited to try this restaurant for the first time. We were seated at 7:44pm. We watched several families of 4 to 6 people come in, be seated and served. We spoke with the waitress and addressed our concerns. She explained she was flustered with work and her manager walked out on her and the bartender is left to supervise. We gave her another 15 minutes to hopefully bring our food. Still NOTHING. At 9:02pm we decided to get the heck out of there. We called for the waitress and advised her that we will only be paying for the drinks. The waitress apologized and then stated “your food is literally ready now and we’re about to bring it out.” We declined the supposed meals for our family and paid for the drinks. The bartender came over to apologize and we went through the reasons of why this experience was unfortunate and unacceptable. He agreed, the waitress agreed but yet this was our experience.

My family and I were not expecting this at all. They also made us miss the appointment for my mom’s other bday surprise.

I do ask that whomever is in charge do whatever is necessary to be sure customers aren’t inconvenienced in this matter.

Thank you for such a prompt response! I understand exactly how things work in the food service industry. You are correct. My issue was the lack of attention rendered to my family and I during the time we sat there. Yes the waitress came and greeted us. Yes she took our drink orders. She was very pleasant. However, she dropped the ball when she left us so long without checking in and when she finally decided to speak with us, we were prepared to give her our orders. I told her we will not be ordering appetizers we will be ordering entrees and we are ready. She said ok and left. Another 20+ mins went by before we spoke with her. Yes, she apologized. I was very empathetic and expressed that I understood being swamped with work but we would appreciate if we could at least place our order. It was then that SHE, YOUR employee advised that the manager left and the bar tender was left to supervise. Please believe, had my husband and I knew the manager was present we would have requested to speak with management immediately.

I am big on giving credit to business when it’s deserved, no matter how big or small the gestures. The disregard for our time was completely unacceptable. We missed an important show we had reserved for my mom. I do appreciate this prompt response but would suggest some training for staff to do better with getting orders for meals as soon as possible especially when they have been waiting as long as we were waiting. Also advise your Staff to NOT tell guests that management walked out or left because that was not well received.

I do wish this business well and hope no other customers share...

I'm going to get the bad out of the way first, and I admit that I may be alone in these feelings lol, BUT... Ruckus and Redemption? Idk man, I don't get the name it's like they are trying to be edgy or something but like, c'mon just be cool bro. I think it, and perhaps the whole restaurant, harken back to like 2015ish when craft burger joints were springing up out of the woodwork but were all kinda the same. For example, the chairs... Oh man the chairs are those metal ones you see in every other burger joint with a hipster name and let me tell you... Unless you are a 10 year old boy your butt isn't going to fit all the way back. The food comes out on metal trays with paper liners, another hallmark of the trendy burger joint.

So I'll tell you what my expectations before getting my food were pretty low. Then it came out... Y'all. Seriously? This is one of my favorite restaurants I've ever been to. My wife and I each got the patty melt type burger and it was 11/10 good. Juicy, flavorful, both cooked just how we ordered. I mean this is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. Often they are just salted to death but not at this place. For an app we got the loaded tots and holy smokes were those good. Some kind of excellent cheese sauce on these things that kinda maybe resembled beer cheese but it wasn't . Idk but they were amazing, with the tots hot when served and not overdone. The seasoned fries we both got with the burger were also chefs kiss good.

This place was SO good we came back for Sunday brunch the next day lol. Oh before I forget, the drinks here are also phenomenal. Wife had a paloma that was delicious and actually had alcohol in it and I had a bloody Mary, that while I would really have appreciated a pickle or something in it, that was also delicious and definitely had vodka in it lol. But the food? Once again it was smack your mama good. The biscuits with the fruit spread? OMG get in my belly I literally want them again right now. Left so amazed by the burger the night before guess what I got? That's right the brunch burger! Once again my taste buds were tantalized by an outrageously good burger. I just really can't say enough good about the food here. Service was great and all the staff were friendly. So I'm a little sorry for the way this review began but it is what it is. Awesome burgers. I love pimento cheese so I obviously had to try their pimento cheeseburger. It comes with bacon jam and pickles (but I ordered mine with no pickles). Delicious! My boyfriend got the smokehouse. It was okay to me but he loved it. You can add a side to your burger as well. I got fries, and I didn't realize they were seasoned fries kinda like Arby's but better than Arby's. I just prefer regular fries. We didn't try their drinks but we will next time. Although they were busy, it didn't feel crowded. Our waitress was friendly as well as the rest of the staff.

10/02/21 Tried their famous brussel sprouts but it was overcooked. Porkbelly too crunchy and it was just drenched in a sweet and sour sauce. It was okay, wouldn't order it again. The 'do not disturb' drink was super good. The baked beans were okay too, seemed microwaved (hot on the outside and luke warm in the middle). Wasn't as impressed as the first time I came here. However staff was nice, and I would come back for the drinks.

October, 2022 Pimento cheese with chicharrones (pork skin): pimento choose is great. I do think the ratio of cheese to chicharrones is fine.
