I have been into nitro cars since i was twelve unitl about 30! Life happens and sold all my nitro about 10 years ago. I now have a six year s daughter and getting back into the hobby with her. I did switch over to electric. I visited several other places in bergen county over the past few months but by far i found shadow hobby to be the best! they are not in bergen county, they are in woodland park on mcbride ave I went there to buy parts for cars I bought online amd was having problems finding servo savers for the hpi jumpshot. He had them in stock! I have been looking into the traxxas m41 wide body for a while now and he had one there and it was a better price than online. not by much but it was better. Bought some 8400 3s lipos and charger . He was very helpful becuase I miss placed the manual and thought I had left it up there because we checked the box for shaft lube and to see what if anything else I would need. when I got home I put the manual on my desk and it slid behind it. I went crazy looking for it so I retraced my steps. first thing was at the store where he had video of us putting it back in the box. second place to look my desk. thays when i decided to look behind it. I am glad he had video ! it helped me out a lot.
This is my new go to rc shop !
!!!!!!!!!!! stopped back in today 6/14/ 2019 I needed an idler gear for the hpi jumpshot and he had it in stock. i can not find it any where else not online either. he said he had 2 nut would only sell me one so he can keep tje other one in case someone else that he sold a jumpshot to needs one. That is a stand up guy in my book ! While there i was looking at 1/8 electeic buggies and was thinking of several brands and with his " bob I believe " help and other customers i decided on the arma typhon.
I did some bashing today and so far love this buggy. He and his customers did not steer me wrong. this buggy reminds me of when I was twelve bashing my nitro kyosho burns.
plan on spending some time there unless you know exactly what you need . The owner spends time with every customer even phone customers. He has a lot of repeat customers he tries to help them first especially if it is a quick thing which I understand and respect. His customers are also very nice and seem to want to help with any advice they can give. I have done a lot of research on these cars and had 2 options in my opion today the kyosho inferno mp9 evo and the team associated . I have looked at the arma but not seriously considered it until today. the owner did not recommend one or the other but showed me them and two other and 2 different customers said to go with the arma. so far I love this place. plus they have a...
Read moreI recently bought my first RC car, a limited edition Snap On Traxxas Xmaxx off a friend. Although the Xmaxx was brand new it didn't work properly. Imagine my disappointment! I called Traxxas and they concluded that either the ESC or Motor was bad and I needed to send to back to them. They stated they would figure out which part was causing the problem and send me a new one but the turnaround time was 2-4 weeks! UGH!!! So after dumping $1000 I had a broken car and would have to wait 2-4 weeks!! Not to mention I am a complete newbie and removing the ESC and motor would be a project in of itself. My introduction to the RC hobby was NOT off to a great start as I instantly began regretting my decision to get into it. I did some research and found out that the Traxxas ESC's are generally a problem and that many enthusiasts replace it with an aftermarket right away so I decided to look into it. I brought my truck into Shadow Hobbies and met Bob and Brendon (sp) I can't begin to tell me how nice these guys were. Granted it was early in the day and not very busy but they took an obscene amount of time testing my truck and explaining to me all of my options. Again, I'm a newbie so I had lots of questions and they explained all of them to me in terms which I could understand. I was so excited about the all of the possible upgrades that were available that they both had to talk me out of doing a lot of things that they thought were very unnecessary at this point. lol Imagine that!!! A business telling you NOT to spend more money with them. 2 days later I have my truck back and it's running like a beast! After first buying a broken truck, If I would have a bad experience with my first time dealing with an actual hobby shop I have no doubt that I would have given up on this Hobby all together. Thank you! At the end of the day, as a customer of any business I just want to be treated fairly. Shadow Hobbies far exceeded all of those expectations and I would recommend them...
