I emailed and spoke with Ben (supposedly the owner) about selling him 50 books. He said he was interested. On Saturday 7/23/2022 I called to confirm and to inquire if Ben was there. The person said he wasn't. I told her that I talked to Ben previously and had about 50 books to bring in. She said, "Sure no problem, you can drop off books anytime.” The bookstore is about 40 miles one way from my house. I packed the books in 4 small boxes because I didn’t know how far away I'd have to park. Upon entering the bookstore with two boxes, I was immediately told that I couldn’t leave more than one box per visit. I told the girl that I had spoken to and emailed Ben about these very books, and he knew they were coming. And, in addition, I had two more boxes in the car. She replied, "It’s store policy; only one box per visit." I said, I just drove 80 miles round trip to drop these off. Again, "It’s store policy; only one box per visit." I said I called this morning and told someone I was bringing 50 some books, to which they replied I could drop them off at any time. They did not mention that there's a one box limit. Again, "It’s store policy; only one box per visit." Since I could not bear to hear that phrase one more time, I left with all of the books Ben said he wanted to buy. Not once did Ben, in an email or phone conversation, mention any limit to books or quantity of boxes, nor did the person who answered the phone.
A little advice from someone who’s dealt with this place . . . If you have some books to sell, simply take them out back, light them on fire, and save yourself the aggravation and waste of time of dealing...
Read moreI’ve visited this store dozens of times as a local, and unfortunately, it’s been consistently underwhelming. Most of the books on the shelves are dated — many have clearly been there for years. The romance section? Feels like a time capsule from the 1980s… we’re talking full-on Fabio covers. 😅
They’re also pretty stingy with trade-ins. You won’t get much for your books, but somehow their resale prices stay close to what you'd pay for a new copy. That’s a little hard to justify.
What really stands out, though, is the customer service — or lack thereof. I’ve never had a truly comfortable interaction with an employee. They just don’t come across as very approachable, which is disappointing when you're trying to support a...
Read moreNice environment, great old fashioned, yellow greenish, chairs to sit on if you want a break. But 2 things they need to work on. 1 the bathroom upstairs is an oven. And the most important is their treacherous staircase that has a barely there banister to grab. The banister they do have is so close to the wall that you can’t really grip it til you’re half way down then they stuck a shelf right up against the bottom half so again you can’t grab it fully. They need to put a fully functional banister on the other side of the wall that is clear of obstacles. But if you wanna walk to the back of the store they do have a safer way to the second floor. But...
