Food was very good, service was excellent dining room was very nice and comfortable. So why the two-star review? Portions. Never in my life have I gone to a restaurant and had almost a $30 meal and left and thought I could still eat. Not only were the portions fairly small for such a pricey meal You literally sit in the dining room and watch them weigh every portion on a little tiny scale. Barbecue is my go-to restaurant for when I travel and I've traveled all over the States. Probably been to hundreds of barbecue restaurants. I order the same thing every time I go to gauge one restaurant to the other. And never have I seen a barbecue restaurant weigh out the portions on a kitchen scale before they plate them up. For a $30 meal with a drink I expect to walk out of that restaurant full holding my stomach saying damn that was good. Everybody wants a good value in a meal nowadays. Stop being scared to give your customers some food. I get the pricey items like brisket you can't just give out Willie nilly. But the cheap platable items such as mac and cheese even the pulled pork You could pile that on It's going to cost you a few more pennies and your customers are going to be happier. Ive ate at several barbecue restaurants where I thought I would go out of my way to go back there for a motorcycle ride or just a drive on a weekend. This one I'll have to x off that list not going to drive an hour out of my way just to feel cheated on the portions. My review of the small portions I actually got on my plate. The brisket was excellent very good flavor and bark a little cold but I understand it's hard to keep smoke meats warm and then serve them. Pulled pork was on point the barbecue sauce at the table was excellent on the pulled pork. The mac and cheese was good but I was expecting it to be smoked and I don't believe it was also the mac and cheese was cold. And the Texas beans are absolutely fantastic by far the best thing on the plate and the hottest thing on the plate temperature-wise. I usually take a picture of my food when it arrives but since I was disappointed with the small portions I didn't even...
Read moreThis place is garbage. And I have been there multiple times to try and give them a chance. Every single one of their sides tastes like Walmart great value brand. As if they have some hidden technique to actually remove flavor from food. Be wary, because it can be served at almost nuclear fallout temperatures as if to mask the fact it is the most bland, boring, underwhelming, cardboard cutout side dishes you will ever eat. I have tried ALL of their meat. Some of it, honestly wasnt that bad. Decent even. ...some of it. The portions do not match price, and it is made about as dispassionately as a hot dog cooked with a road flare. The people are nice. I always appreciate that. Though after much thought, it is probably because they know they are fleecing you with some of the lowest quality food they could possibly get their hands on. Dont bother with the sauce. It is sub par.....or do, drench your "meat" in that ketchup water mixed with vinegar to get through it. Do not order the pulled pork. Overcooked ball of snot. Best meat here is the brisket, if that's what it truly is. Bad portions, but best tasting at this carny food trough disguised as a posh "bbq" place. Have you ever had good bbq? Not here. Just take down the "bbq" and call it a cafeteria or something. DO NOT EAT HERE, you will just...
Read moreLoved this place. This was a no frills (besides the food) joint with plenty of meat options. I went with the 3 Meat Meal and chose ribs, pulled pork and brisket (unfortunately you can't double up on a selection) along with fried mushrooms and mac n cheese. I also sprung for a pork egg roll which seemed like a gimmick, but delivered with a satisfying taste and crunch. The meats were tender and delicious, but not overly smoky if that's your thing (it is mine, but I still was happy). The sides were quality as well. The food for the price was reasonable and I enjoyed it all thoroughly, wishing I had more (and/or a larger stomach lol).
The only knock, if you can consider it that, is that there was only one style of BBQ sauce, which was tasty, but "generic" (probably only because I go for more of a Texas or Carolina style sauces).
While I was there due to business and wasn't able to have one, they have a small, but satisfying, selection of beers (mostly craft from what I remember). I had a water and it was good (as clean water is).
VERY VERY happy I found this place and I can't wait for the opportunity to return. Not a question of if you should...
