The Excelsior Room — Attraction in Wooster

Wanted to reach out with a note of appreciation and gratitude to The Excelsior and, especially Heather, for an absolutely perfect event last night.

For background, our group is College Lacrosse Team and Families. We found out on Monday that we got a bid to play in the NCAA tournament and our location would be Wooster. We called all around and had difficulty finding a restaurant/venue at the last minute. From our first outreach to The Excelsior/Heather earlier in the week, our experience was stellar. Heather met us with a “LET’S GET THIS DONE” energy and gave us the confidence that we could pull something special off in the matter of days. She was patient, gracious and generous with her time and ideas offering solutions and opportunities at every turn (even when some of my texts came after hours).

The set up of the tables and chairs was great, the room looked intimate, and the bar, sternos and such were fired up and ready to go! Our team and parents had an absolute blast and made memories that will last forever!

It wasn't bad, it wasn't anything that impressed me though. It was a very large room, with pretty lighting, but pretty dim when it comes to pictures and such. We were very lucky to have a sunny day. The food wasn't my favorite. It looked very pretty, but the taste wasn't there for me. And I prefer good tasting food over looks any day. Everything had an "Eh, it's alright feel for me." I was there for a bridal shower as a guest (place can hold 240 people, we only had 40 and we had more than enough space). However, found out as we left, they had some hidden costs that the host was unaware of before. If you plan an event here, I recommend asking for an upfront price on everything in writing before the event. Nothing worse than seeing the couple leaving after an exciting event shocked by a surprise $4,000 bill.

Parking wasn't too bad for our small event. If you have a lot of people coming though parking could be an issue. Lots of stairs, but they do have a elevator if you need it. I probably won't be...

The Excelsior Room could not have been more perfect for our Christmas in July wedding! We knew the minute we walked in it that was the absolute best spot for us to celebrate, we just had to have our wedding reception here! And I am so glad we did! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and elegant. The food is delicious, my guests raved about how good the appetizers and meal was! The staff was amazing to work with, I can’t praise them enough for such a great job they did making my special day even better!! They truly made this such a great experience for me!!
