First off, this is a nice hotel. If you NEED to stay in Wooster, this is the nicest place to stay probably. That is, if you don't mind over paying. The staff were friendly and helpful. And the room was OK. I stayed in the grand suite with the hot tub and it is definitely a step up from a normal room. My real complaint is simply that its not an almost $400.00 a night after taxes room. At least not in the condition it was in while I was there. It wasn't really dirty per say, so much as not as clean as it should have been with that kind of price tag. There was all kinds of debris floating in the hot tub, which kind takes away from it when your sitting there trying to relax and you feel floating stuff bumping you LOL (kinda like getting a spider on you and then feeling like something is always crawling on you lol). The carpet is stained and unraveling in multiple locations. And the room is only kind of clean, and by that I mean, its clean just looking over it, but I moved a couple of items making the room a bit cozier. Well for just a moment anyways. When I moved the small couch I could see it was filthy underneath and against the wall the was fingernails and debris. The walls were scuffed and filthy especially in the bedroom under the T.V. Some of the drywall was cracked and flaky in the bathroom bottom corners. Again, i'm kind of nit picking, I know. But when your paying almost $400.00 a night for a room I kinda feel you deserve to. Def not a bad hotel, just not a $400.00 hotel. When you pay that kind of money your room and amenities should be immaculate! But, if you need an above average place to stay in town there and you don't mind paying for more then this will be perfect! I will say the shower is pretty nice, it does take a while to heat and the pressure is a bit lacking, but its still nice:) Again though, soap scum and grime in corners :( Also I want to say I don't mind spending more or splurging, I simply feel that if I do, that what I want to feel satisfied in doing so and in this instance I was not :( If you don't have to stay in Wooster and are simply looking for an above average room or getaway I would highly recommend either Belamere Suites in Perrysburg, OH or Gervasi Vineyard in Akron, OH. Both are much much nicer and I actually feel your getting your moneys worth. Both are very comparably priced, and not just a little bit nicer, but much much nicer. Sorry St. Paul, again not a bad place. But I think your establishment should be ashamed to charge the same prices and be so lacking...
Read moreMy husband and I are from the Cleveland area and we chose this Boutique Hotel because it looked very nice online. We thought the area would be a nice little stay for a 2 day staycation. We stayed in the premier Queen room with the deck and hot tub ( room 207). The room was very nice and clean, well kept. The amenities were very nice too...the wet bar area, mini fridge, comfy bedding & towels, rain- shower shower, heated floors, double sink and the large PRIVATE deck. We really liked the choice of drinks and snacks when we checked in, the beautifully decorated lobby sitting area 🎄 and the plentiful Continental Breakfast ( you can go as small or large depending on what you choose to select ... cereals, muffins, bagel or english muffin, fruit, yogurt, coffee and juices). They have their own parking lot in the back with a nicely lit patio with tables/ chairs ( would be nice to take advantage of during a nice warm evening, maybe with a cocktail), this is also their wheelchair assability in/ out of the hotel. Now, on to the negatives....which is why I took 1 star off the review. Albeit, how nice the bathroom and shower was it was lacking any shelving, nook or cranny to place your body wash, shampoo or conditioner on in the shower. It was only on our last day there checking out, and peeking in on 3 other rooms ( the doors were wide open as they were being cleaned/ turned over) that we discovered all the showers had a metal chair/ bench in them.....not our room! We wish we would have known that we definitely would have asked for one! 😏 And for the bigger complaint, we feel the hot tub was dated and not kept up for the money we put out for the most expensive room. To that point, we aren't even sure if the chlorine was up to snuff either. It didn't smell much like chlorine ( like I'm used to) and in the bottom of the tub had lots of debris like they aren't cleaning it enough. And yes, we put the top on and off each time during our stay. Also, the sides and bottom felt a little slippery due to sludge. Perhaps, we should have said something after our first use but we didn't want to ruin our time there at the hotel. All in all, it was a nice room and stay. P.S We also, opted to add on the cookie tray ...last minute and the hotel was able to accommodate! Reception staff...
Read moreWe used to LOVE the St. Paul. Ten years ago, it was cool, new, trendy, and the place to stay in Wooster. Now, it is a very dilapidated, worn down, shabby old building. We were so excited to stay here for a long weekend but ended up checking out after one night and moving to a Hilton property. From the filthy and stained carpets to the scuffed walls, torn furniture, mold in the shower, broken tile, non-functioning heated floors, HEAVILY scented room air (to which I had a severe allergic reaction), and broken TV, the $180 we paid was almost criminal. And, there is NO housekeeping. Not 'optional' or 'by request' housekeeping, NO housekeeping. If you would like clean linens, you must strip your own bed and bag your towels and put them all outside the door. Same for trash. Which means the teeny tiny hallways are full of bags of garbage and dirty linens at times. The young woman who checked us in was phenomenal. It is really too bad there has been ZERO maintenance since this property opened. Even the stainless steel fixtures and shower surround had rust and grime on them. And, we had forgotten there are 2 outlets in the entire room not already being used - making it very difficult to charge devices while using any other item needing electricity. The very large coffee maker/tea tray on the desk takes up the entire desktop and is plugged NOT into a wall outlet, but into a multi outlet adapter that is behind the smelly little refrigerator in the wall unit. I had to remove the refrigerator, pull out the adapter, unplug the coffee maker and thread the cord back through a cut out hole in the wall unit so I could 'clear' a space to use the desktop. Completely filthy, gross, and dangerous. The mattress was very saggy with zero structure. Likely the original (making it over 10 years old).||||We love the location, the concept, and the people, but this property is run down, dirty, small, smelly,...
