My wife and I had our wedding at the end of March during the off-season and got a discount that made it more affordable for us. I didn’t understand why venues for weddings were so expensive. This was the first place we went scouting for and in total went to around 7-8 places. Now, this place even in off-season was the most expensive but we realized why and were not disappointed. Melissa (and the manager lady) was extremely helpful when it came to answering our questions, addressing our needs with anything and everything. Whether it was helping us get chairs for cheaper or the willingness to shovel snow in case it snowed on the wedding day. This may be the norm but I was impressed when my wife and I tried their food to see what it was about. It was amazing and to my surprise we didn’t have to pay for testing it (this may be the norm but it was a shock to me especially food of that quality). The rehearsal and day of was amazing. Nothing was mismanaged or unorganized. Jennifer who was our “day of” or whatever you call it, was phenomenal in addressing everything my wife wanted or needed. This place is a little pricey but there will be 0 disappointments. I can only imagine how nice place is in the summer when the outdoor patio/bar can be utilized. Even without it my wife and I could not have been happier with Silver Shores staff, food, venue and gorgeous day we got married on outside in Michigan at a time where we all know it could have snowed or you know...pure Michigan weather. I’m remembering things as I write the review. We had our food buffet style however, my wife asked if they could serve the head table and they did. Small things like that are memorable. Anyways this place is quality at its finest. Our wedding had 100ish guests. Dance floor was perfect for us but I can see with 150 guests it may be a little crowded, however the food and the staff make up for everything. Book them and you’ll be happy...
Read moreWas told we couldn't have a rehearsal or set up the day before our wedding because there would be another event on that day. We dropped off our napkins and runners and found the venue empty. They seemed confused as to why we were there even though we had extensive email communication and instruction to drop these things off the day prior to our wedding. When we got to the venue the day of, none of our napkins or runners were placed even though we were assured they would be. We even offered to do it ourselves the day before but were told they would be done. We even had to remind them that we paid for chair covers. I was extremely frustrated that they would not let us in before 9am for an 11am event. Even when a worker arrived early she made sure to make us wait even though she clearly saw us sitting outside with boxes and the flower company. Set up takes a long time especially when the things you promised would be done were not. In two hours we had to take photos, get ready, set up inside and outside and remind you of many details. I had sweat right through the clothes I got married in because I ran all over the place doing a million things with not one second to relax before walking down the aisle. Two hours is NOT enough time. We specifically requested a gluten free meal and reminded you many times but our friend did not eat because this was not provided even though we paid for it. All in all it is a beautiful place but once the check was cashed its every man for themselves. I had to ask the waitress where the wedding party would walk and stand 10 minutes before the ceremony started because nobody informed her we didn't have a rehearsal. Extremely disappointed for the amount of money we put into our wedding and this venue. The servers and the girl in charge the day of were very attentive and helpful but administration needs to get their...
Read moreJust had my wedding here last month and I am super disappointed with the way we were treated by the staff. Initially, before we signed our contract, we were told that heaters would be turned on if it ended up being a cold day on our wedding day. When it ended up being cold, I asked for the heaters to be turned on and was told that they couldn’t because they don’t turn them on until October. Being a MICHIGAN venue, you would think they would have a better process for the heating by now when most of their weddings occur in the outdoor tent. It was a low of 49 on the wedding night and most of my guests were FREEZING the entire night. We couldn’t even get to the fire pit outside because the tents were closed. While we could still go inside for heat, the wedding was inside the tent so people couldn’t even enjoy the party if they went inside. There should have AT LEAST been space heaters inside the tent if they couldn’t bring in the heating. I even offered to pay for heating in the tent and went ignored when I asked. We also had to pay almost $1k for pizza and by the time they brought it out, almost everyone was gone because of how cold it was. They maybe brought out $100 worth of pizza and didn’t even offer to package any of it for us to take home. They also were showing people the venue while we were trying to set up and I found that very annoying. The least they could’ve done was ASK us if that was okay. The bar closed earlier than the time stated on the contract as well. I was mostly irritated about no heating in the tent being offered when we paid THOUSANDS to have our wedding here. Honestly, barn animals have better treatment. I would not recommend anyone to have their wedding here. Super beautiful venue but terrible treatment of their customers....
