Upon entering through the front entrance, me and my wife were very confused, there wasn't anyone to greet us, after looking around for a minute a passing waitress pointed us to the hostess stand on the other end of the bar where there is a back entrance by rear parking. We stood next to it and I had to waive someone down after 5 minutes. After being seated the service was great. Our server was very nice and helpful, she also agreed that the menus were confusing, they had a laminated menu, a paper menu with different items and a laminated wine list, a beer menu, and a separate cocktail menu. We got 2 starters. The queso and chips and the pretzel bites. The queso tasted good, it was thick and had a kick to it. The chips I'm pretty sure were Tostitos, and the pretzel bites were interesting but good. The cocktails were ok, not great, but tasted ok. We both ordered the 8oz Sirloin steak which on the menu (the paper one) came with red skin potatoes and a vegetable medley side. We opted to double up on the red skins instead but were informed it is actually mashed potatoes. We agreed that sounded fine. When the entrees came out, both "sirloin" steaks looked VERY different. Mine looked like a 6oz Filet Mignon and it was rare (ordered medium rare) while my wife's was maybe a sirloin but closer to 4oz probably. Here was medium rare (ordered medium) and except for the flat end which was well done. The mashed potatoes had a grainy texture like they were boxed. They came with a very salty gravy. All of this would have been fine if it was transparent and didn't cost $24 per entree. They are using obviously using boxed and frozen items. The quality for the price is terrible. Our total bill was 111.30 for 4 drinks 2 entrees and 2 apps. I was going to get dessert but decided against it when we got our entrees. If it cost nearly half the price I'd be fine with it, but I was trying to have a nice night out with the other half and we bailed when we got the chance to go somewhere else for dessert. (Edited food and overall to 2 stars after trying my wife's steak, it was tough...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I definitely would, we came there last night because online it says you close at 11, well clearly that was not the case, we told the waitress that we can go somewhere else if they were closing at it was only 9... Well she asked the cooks and they said it was still opened and we was fine, well clearly we wasn't definitely was a mistake staying... The blonde waitress was definitely super nice and said it was okay, we said are you sure she said yes, she requested to eat outside and she brought us water and the menus and told us the waitress would be out to take our order, the girl with the black hair did not catch their names but the girl with the black hair definitely needs to be retrained because for starters she did not even get my husbands drink right! We also had to get up and get our own napkins even though we asked her to bring us some and she did not do that! I asked for a medium rare burger and got a well done burger... But I did find out why because your cooks was mad about us being there as that was according to your waitress. But also she stated at the end of the day that's how they get tips! Sorry to say this but the only way you get tips is by doing your job! I don't think she is a great fit there and based on the reviews I'm sure she's the same one. The only thing that was decent was the loaded tots and fries! Great combination on the burger if it only it was not dry and made the way I asked. But I think the waitress was by far the worse 😕 she only came out when she wanted to rush us for the check but never came out any other time! I really wished I read the reviews before coming here because it definitely makes sense there to busy with friends then doing their job.. we will definitely not be back! I'm just curious as to why this waitress is still there? Based on the reviews it's definitely the same waitress! She's eaither family or something! You said you want to improve, clearly she's your problem your gonna lose business by...
Read moreHad a lovely dinner at Brickhouse with my fiance on Friday!
To start, it's such a sharp space on the inside! Lots of sleek dark wood and low lighting, which the walls of windows easily make up for. Huge bar space too. It was our first time there, and we entered off of Biddle as opposed to the side door coming in from Bishop park. It was a bit of a journey navigating all the way back to the hostess stand, which from Biddle is in the very back of the restaurant. We cut through both dining rooms and the main bar before finding our way. We enjoyed the little tour of the space though lol
Our waitress was super nice and attentive! I feel awful for not remembering her name, she was so friendly and made us feel really welcome. She also struck that great balance of checking on us but also giving us time to enjoy our date and our meal.
And maaaan, did we enjoy the meal! We both tried the house chili, which was the bomb 💣 It's Texas style, so more brothy than stewy, and was packed with spices and flavor. I regret only getting the cup and not the bowl it was so good! For an entree we split the peaches and brie flatbread. It's so unique, I've never seen anything like it on another menu elsewhere. The peaches were soft and sweet, the brie was creamy and delicious, and the bacon jam brought the salt and smoke to balance it all together. And the bread itself was perfect- super crispy on the outside but soft and pillowy on the inside 👌
My only demerit comes from my drink. I got the Smoked Paloma, which was supposed to come with charred rosemary. Sounded so good! Sadly when I got it, it was just a plain (and insanely strong) basic Paloma that I wasn't hardpressed to finish. No rosemary, no smoke, and no real flavor besides the tequila.
But overall, Brickhouse is a great dinner spot! I'm excited for my return visit there, and you should check them out if you...
