This is a good coffeeshop that, with a few tweaks, could be a great one. It has a nice location in Wyandotte and is a pleasant place to spend time, with big windows overlooking the street, letting in ample amounts of sunlight. The staff is friendly, the chairs are comfy, and the pastries are always tasty.
But the coffee, honestly, I find to be hit-or-miss. The espresso shots don’t always taste as full or potent as they should; I don’t know if they’re over- or under-extracting or what, but… something’s off.
Also, their drink sizes are huge. The Coffee Lounge offers three sizes: 16, 20, and a whopping 24 oz. If you’re getting a milk-based beverage, that’s… an awful lot of milk. And they sometimes run out of 16-oz. cups, which means 20 oz. becomes “small.” Even Starbucks offers 8- and 12-ounce sizes. It’d be great if TCL followed suit. (And how about smaller drinks, like cortados, which come in 4-oz. cups?)
And given those big drink sizes, the default number of espresso shots (in espresso-based beverages, like lattes or mochas) is not enough. Their formula for 16-oz. lattes is 2 shots of espresso, 3 for 20- and 24-oz. That’s too dilute. A traditional coffeeshop would do 2 shots of espresso to only 8 or 12 ounces of milk, which makes for a nice balance of flavors between milk, espresso, and flavoring, if you choose one. To get that “proper” ratio at TCL, you have to add shots regardless of which size you choose, which is a bummer and, of course, increases the price of the drink. (It should be 3 shots for 16 oz., 4 for 20 oz., and 5 or 6 for 24 oz.)
One other note: it’d be nice if they had larger tables of normal height, so that patrons can bring laptops and such and get work done. Most of the tables are tiny and/or at awkward heights relative to the chairs.
Again, this is still a good place, and I generally stop here when I’m in Wyandotte. But with some improvements, it could be great. If nothing else, please offer smaller sizes. You don’t need to do away with the mega sizes, but smaller sizes would be...

Oh man you're like three four miles into your walk dear God you're getting a little tired and you've worked up a sweat you're getting pretty warm. You know what sounds amazing, a cold coffee. So you walk into the local coffee lounge, atmosphere is pretty chill, bit of a hipster vibe but you know you're digging it cuz you used to be a hipster before you had that run in with that raccoon and his two squirrel goons. You asked the pretty blonde girl at the counter for recommendation, she's all oh man I don't know I'm not that good with coffee but then swoops in Mr coffee man with his sick look and it's all, "I'll make you the dopest cold brew you've ever had bro." You get your cold brew you take that first sip and it's like a transcendental experience, you feel like it's the first cup of coffee you've ever had and by all the saints in heaven, you'll be chasing the taste of that first sip for the rest of your life.
I don't know it was something like that or whatever.

Read moreDo Not Recommend! This review comes after the 7th time visiting Coffee Lounge as I really wanted to love them and root for them but have been disappointed every time. Upon walking in it feels very awkward as employees aren’t very friendly (definitely not a coffee place atmosphere). To follow, I always order a black coffee to go with my drinks anywhere I go to determine coffee bean quality and theirs is one of the worst I’ve had, taste like off brand cheap coffee. They do not display their coffee roaster/coffee bean brand they use and I asked employee and she was unsure (this is a first for a coffee shop that I’ve been to - as they all always display for purchase a packet of their home brand). Do love their location on Oak street in downtown Wyandotte and nice small well decorated interior/exterior but definitely not the quality service/product of a good...
