Been to a lot of GR parks and the Plaster Creek Family Park is the poorest of the lot. For the good, the playgrounds and ballfields are in decent condition. The Meadows playground has interesting wooden structures that spark the imagination. The parking lots are likely barricaded for a reason. While the trails allow a pleasant walk along Plaster Creek, the number of homeless encampments in the park, trash along the trails, and graffiti adorning solid structures suggests an environment not meriting the moniker "Family Park." When we visited on a Sunday afternoon, we felt comfortable parking our car on a city street because a large group was playing soccer on the courts along with young children as spectators. In the center where once lay a field is now a beautiful paved path, handicap scooter accessible, full of flower mounds. A natural wooden sculpture. Perfect peaceful escape right in the middle of town. The basketball court and ball diamond are off to the sides. Great with my service dog. (It IS hard to access from the parking lot for those unable to walk)
A quieter nature area. Not kids playground. Lots of butterfly's near the creek edge (covered vegetation habitat). Hopefully encouraging population.
Neighbors appear proud of the area. Groups, individuals, seen throughout. We didn't observe any illegal activities. Mostly individuals enjoying peace. Visited late afternoon.
