3 of 5 electrical outlets work. Janitor does great at keeping most garbage cans empty, but is stingy with the toilet paper. One Saturday noon, there was a group of women (one man) doing dance aerobics. Picnic tables are sheltered by a canopy (called ramadas) and can be reserved. One playground has a canopy. Birds rest on bridges looking down for people like me putting food on the ground for them. Food for the birds is the second reason I dig into the trash cans. The river is ankle-deep in some locations for kids to play, while adequately deep enough elsewhere for boaters (not much boat traffic). The river seems ideal for lap swimmers. Cyclists must yield to pedestrians. Dogs must be leashed. Poop bags are available to those who don't bring their own. Mon-Fri around 9 am, the Salvation Army brings food to...

Gateway Park sits right on the edge of the Colorado River and feels like Yuma’s front porch. You can walk along the water, dip your feet in, or just sit back and watch the river roll by. The bridge overhead gives it a bit of character, and the sound of the water mixed with the chatter of families and travelers makes it feel alive.

It’s a great spot to cool off, especially when the weather hits that summer heat. There’s plenty of shade, picnic tables, and trails that stretch out along the river. You’ll see locals fishing, kids splashing, and people just slowing down for a bit.

What I love most about Gateway Park is how it ties the town to the river. It’s simple, calm, and real, the kind of place that reminds you why the desert and the water belong together.

Grateful...

Always fun with the family and friends. I find myself picking up trash more than I'd like so please put your trash/cigaretes/bottle caps/dirty diapers and all of the above in the many trash cans located all over the place. Litter bugs are not welcome. 😀 It will not kill you to spend a second of your life keeping our fun spaces clean for all. It might kill you if you don't. 😱 Hot coals do not feel great when stepped on and it's happened a few times. Please put coals out. Covering them with sand does not do the trick. No one is nice when it happens to thier kid/s and usually end up in jail for beating the life out of those responsible. Have fun and be safe and PLEASE watch your children when in the water. All in all it's always a good...

Gateway park located downtown Yuma is a nice getaway place for long walks and even bike riding. There are concrete and asphalt bike paths and there is also trail riding right along the river over 5miles of riding if u have a bicycle or walking. But be careful in the warmer season snakes and critters are out most snakes that I had run into where non venomous nothing to be scared of leave them alone and they will do the same over all it's a cool place to hang out have a good swim or even do a little fishing there are slides and swings/playground for the kids also.

I visited yesterday with my 2 dogs and we had a great time! There are plenty of walking trails, lots of lovely shady areas, a sandy beach, (there were quite a few folks swimming as temps were in the high 70's), there are also lots of grassy areas to just sit and relax. When I visited, there were also a couple of vendors selling water, sodas, ice cream, and more, The dogs and I had a wonderful time and plan to return before leaving the area! (We are full time RV travelers)
