"Hudjum" Silk Carpets Workshop. A visit to the Silk Carpet Factory “Hudjum” unveils the intricate artistry behind silk carpet weaving and stands as a testament to Samarkand’s rich heritage of craftsmanship and artistic expression. Here, seasoned artisans practice time-honored techniques passed down through generations. The journey begins with the careful selection of the finest silk threads, setting the foundation for each exquisite creation. The carpets at “Hudjum” are far more than mere floor coverings—they are woven expressions of art, culture, and tradition. From geometric motifs to intricate floral designs, each piece reflects the diverse artistic influences that have shaped Samarkand over the centuries. A hallmark of “Hudjum” silk carpets is their vibrant hues, created using natural dyes. The color palette—featuring deep blues, earthy browns, and rich reds—is inspired by the landscapes and architectural beauty of Samarkand itself, resulting in a harmonious blend that captures the city’s timeless spirit. The factory actively engages in educational initiatives, hosting workshops and programs to pass on the artistry to new generations. A visit to “Hudjum” transcends a conventional tourist experience. It is a cultural odyssey, inviting travelers to witness the intertwining threads of history, artistry, and community that define the timeless craft of silk carpet weaving.

SCAM high pressure sales tactics — be VERY careful This company uses high pressure sales tactics and lies about accepting different payments. The quality of their goods is dubious. Be very, very careful when in their shop. The 18 year old man in the photo gave us an excellent tour of the carpet making process (although no workers were actually there). This experience was then ruined when we got to the factory shop. There was several women who would follow you extremely closely around the store and force clothing products into your hand, and then immediately put them in bags if you picked them up, assuming you will buy them. The quality of these products appeared to be poor and not made in Uzbekistan (as other reviews have noted here). The 18 year old then said we could pay by card to our group, but gave us each 3 different excuses to each of us that actually they could not accept card at the time of paying, and demanded to be paid in USD and not local currency. This is clearly because they did not want to report the revenue for tax reasons, but lied. This was upsetting and a poor representation of Uzbekistan. If you are a tourist be VERY careful when buying products.

The owner is kind😂 she accomodates people with smile on her face. The way she explains how to make carpet was amazing 😂. She made sure that visitor understands her explanation. Her humurous explanation made all visitors laugh 😂😂. After her humurous speech 😂👏, she guided us to visit inside, where carpets are being made. So amazing to see how talented they are. From the start to finish product. They are accepting card, so if you want to buy some souvenirs using card it is acceptable..

I'm local guide and I never bring tourists here. Women making carpets get extremely low salary compared to prices of carpets. They don't get any valuable and noticable medical treatment for their eyes. No dedicated personal space for resting after long hours of work. Owners r just for making money presenting the factory as it is like some kind of high social responsible establishment covering up with the sentimental story about their grandfather with eye problems who founded the factory. I don't...
