Although the website mentions 3 whole floors, the museum's collection is actually quite small and a thorough, leisurely visit takes 2 hours at the very most. There is a relatively informative leaflet to accompany your visit, but I wish there would have been more information on the individual artists and their works. Some of my favourite works were in the Graphic Arts section, while I had high hopes for the Silk Arts section and found it rather lacking. The section devoted to Folk Arts was partly closed due to renovation (I visited in late November 2022), but by the look of it, it was not that well-populated, which is a shame as I can imagine there being much more richness and diversity than what was being displayed. Read moreI am surprised that anyone would rate this museum other than four or five stars. It’s a lovely space with an excellent collection of high quality Vietnamese art, yielding insight into the artistic and cultural history of the country and giving excellent t exposure to a number of deserving contemporary Vietnamese artists. Many of their historical pieces are of exceptionally high quality and give some perspective of the vastness and scope of the arts throughout the history of Vietnam.
It’s certainly a bargain at 20,000 VND to enter and the fact that it is air conditioned makes it much easier for those of us who have grown up with air conditioning and who don’t tolerate the heat well. Absolutely a worthwhile way to spend a morning or...
Read moreA nice collection covering 3 floors featuring Vietnamese artists. The bottom floor has rotating exhibits with the upper floors having longer term exhibits. I was surprised and delighted by the range of items on display from painting to sculpture. Recommend you read the large bilingual signs about the type and production of art categories. Learning about the importance of painting on silk or cultural interest in lacquer painting was informative when looking at works on display. Additional information on artists also shared their education which came during a period around wartime, that was reflected in the designs if works produced decades later. There are benches throughout each gallery so you can sit, and toilets are available...
