Awesome! Beautiful! Perfect place to stay as of April 27, 2017. I'm from L.A. California. 1st time in HCMC. I traveled w/ my Vietnamese gf to visit her family. I'm Chinese. Although, she was born in Vietnam and grew up extremely poor(compared to the U.S.), we've been spoiled here in America. She hasn't been back to Vietnam in 12 years. She read some reviews stating there were some cockroaches and was hesitant to book because of that. I told her to just try it since million dollar homes around here have ants and roaches anyways. We booked it and couldn't be happier. Yes, there were some construction, but it never bothered us. HCMC is a very busy city so it's inevitable that you'll hear noise, anywhere. But our room was on the 10th floor was very quiet and never bothered us during our 2 weeks stay. I would also compare the rooms to be as clean as some high end rooms in Las Vegas. The pictures don't really do this place justice since pictures can make a place look better than it is. But trust me, at this time, it was very nice. It's also considered a 4 star hotel (Asian standards). Somerset is also considered a condo or home for some. So it's more like hotel/condo/apartment. There are lots of good eats within walking distance. We also stayed in Eden Star. Eden has a better location, but the rooms were smaller, older, more nosier for the same price as Somerset. We could constantly hear our neighbors slamming their doors. However, the breakfast was better at Eden. More options and it was bigger. Food was better as well. Some rooms will be slightly older judging by the wooden flooring, but nothing to frown upon. Because of our tour and family situation, we initially booked for 3 nights. Right away, we wanted to stay for the remaining trip, but it was too last minute, so that's why we ended up at Eden for a week until we made it back to Somerset. Comparing the 2, I prefer Somerset over Eden, but Eden was...
Read morePossibly one of the most comfortable stays in HCMC, mainly because:|- Staff were mostly polite and greeted us warmly. Lobby concierge was very welcoming and even upgraded us to a 3-room apartment and helped all of us sign up to CapitaLand's Ascott's membership. Witnessed that their guards and bell hops were always friendly and helping guests (including plenty of long-term stays) carry their heavy golf sets up and down the lobby stairs.||- Our 136sqm three-bedroom apartment had their own fully-equipped kitchen with an updated French door refrigerator, washer-dryer, separate living and dining areas and even a study and a balcony!||- The compound has its own K-market (an established Korean supermarket chain) that is open till 10pm for grocery needs.||- Though location was in town, its large compound with much greenery and outdoor play areas along the sheltered walkways connecting the two buildings, as well as the semi-Olympic-size pool and al fresco breakfast area beside the pool made it feel like a resort.||- Price was very reasonable e.g. even for their larger Premier 110sqm two-bedroom apartments, it costed less than 40usd per room within.||Only gripes:|- Breakfast selection was a little limited, and not that tasty. Probably fine since we recommend that it's better to save your stomach's capacity for some authentic Michelin Bib Gourmand Vietnamese breakfast dishes such as those from Phở Lệ and Hủ Tiếu Hồng Phát some 15-minute ride away from the hotel!||- Wanted to skip breakfast on the second day but still wanted to get two coffees to go but... the breakfast reception manager questioned us sternly. Weird and a...

Vietnamese milk coffees are included too yum ! ||Pool is a great size and the resort really does feel like you are miles away from a city given nothing really overlooks into it. ||For us this was the perfect location for our stay , so good we cancelled our other planned accommodation and will be staying here again next week . ||Oh , cannot forget , the gym is one of the best hotel set up gyms one will come across!! Dumb bells, strength machines, cardio machines all available . ||If any improvements could be made , I would like restaurant staff to have greater awareness of what gluten free options are and why someone needs to know this if they are coeliac . Also to see some soap available by the pool side toilet . There is another toilet in reception very close and super clean , but the poolside toilet also seems to be used regularly by kitchen staff in addition to guests . ||All up a very nice stay and of course , we...
