I stayed here because I wanted to be in the center of the city and I belong to a credit-card point plan that allowed me to use points rather than paying cash. It was a pretty average Buenos Aires hotel -- spare, clean rooms; too much noise from doors and elevators at certain times of day and night. Management was clearly making an effort to keep the place up -- while I was there, workers were painting the lobby, and the carpet had been cleaned recently. One computer in the lobby for free internet access; 2 would've been nice, but most of the time I had access to the computer when I needed it.||||Breakfast buffet was average Argentine continental, although the scrambled eggs were good (I really need protein in the morning) and the sweet medialunas quite tasty. Most staff members were friendly, although a few were a little stiff, and it really helped that I spoke decent (not great) Spanish.||||Although I wasn't bowled over, I'd probably stay here again. I don't have a huge travel budget, and I loved that the hotel was within walking distance of Recoleta Cemetery, Avenida 9 de Julio, Plaza de Mayo, and the subway.||||The 8 de Octubre could benefit from adopting the "green hotel" concept – it was hard to control water flow in the shower, so low-flow shower heads would be ideal, and there’s often no need to replace guests’ towels and sheets each day unless they request it. I’ve stayed at other hotels in Argentina that did this, and it...

On the downside the hot water on some days was only available after 7am – annoying if you want an early shower. Housekeeping also ungenerous with consumables – in fact I had to ask reception for toilet paper on one occasion!||||Breakfast was satisfactory and includes scrambled eggs although the coffee was distinctly unimpressive.||||Other guests seemed to be all Latin American but reception staff could converse in English adequately well.||||Hotel is in a good location close to metro stations and amenities. The immediate streets nearby were quite desolated at night but it did not seem to be...
Read moreA very disappointing stay. The hotel has a very weird smell in the hallways and within the room. The ratings seem not to be deserved. All doors are very noisy (a massive bang, as if someone angrily slams a door) - so you'll wake up anytime anyone around you closes a door (happened at 2am and 4am on our floor). The room was very basic. The bathroom door suffers from moisture inside the bathroom and starts to disintegrate. We booked 3 nights but left after the first night. Impossible to stay longer.
Edit after reply: all of the above is correct and was the reason for asking for an...
