Hotel Frossard — Hotel in Autonomous City of Buenos Aires

This was my first time in Buenos Aires and the hotel was more than sufficient for our needs. It is a little run down on the outside, and when we arrived we couldn't really figure out how to get in. We eventually saw a piece of A4 paper taped to the wall outside that was folded over by the wind. It had my name on it, with a number to call on arrival. Luckily my wife and I had international sim cards, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to call. We got let in and the lady was very nice and friendly. The room was a sufficient size, but could do with a little bit of care. The is one small bedside shelf on one side of the bed, and thats it. The plug sockets were strangely placed directly above the bed, and not to the side. It could have done with maybe a fold out table to put things on. The best thing by far was the location, so close to Galerías Pacífico and Calle Florida, as well as the tourist bus stop and Buquebus terminal. The one thing I would advise people to know is that the pictures are somewhat out of date, the hotel doesn't actually serve breakfast on the premises. You instead get a voucher for breakfast at a restaurant 5 mins walk away. It was fine, but a rather small. The wifi also only really worked in the lobby area, and not in the room. Was booked in here by travel agent for two nights in buenos Aries. Hotel was supposed to arrange airport transfer but was late arriving. Our 'English speaking driver' had as much English as we Spanish but was friendly and warm. ||||Got to the 'hotel' in torrential rain only to find that the hotel was locked, the door bell didn't raise anyone and the taxi driver calling on his mobile also couldn't reach them. Waited 45 minutes in pouring rain with sleeping four year old till another couple staying let us in. Despite being inside couldn't raise ANYONE. Left wife and sleeping child and looked on foot for alternatives unsuccessfully (only due to availability for the nights we needed). Arrived back to an aloof and uncaring staff person who reluctantly agreed to show me the available options. HORRIBLE is being kind; smelly, tiny and in one room obvious stains on a fabric covered bed head. Ended up finding a place within 400 metres and about 100 times better for slightly few dollars per night (will write separate review on that one).||||The fact that the Frossard is rated three stars just shows the absurdity of ratings systems that are not based on actual user experience / operator professionalism.||||Do not stay here - there are ten different options within a 500 metre radius that's are at least...

En este caso nos encontramos con un hotel bastante particular con puntos fuertes y cuestiones a mejorar.

El lugar es una mezcla entre un hotel y una pensión. Incluye los servicios típicos de un hotel y, según tengo entendido, alquila habitaciones por mes. Tiene zonas públicas como cocina, sala de estudio y heladeras/freezer para los residentes.

El edificio cuenta con muchas habitaciones, y muy diferentes. Es un poco una lotería cuál te toca, y la experiencia puede variar mucho entre una y otra.

Nos quedamos 6 noches. El puntaje es un promedio de la experiencia completa.

Empezamos con el pie izquierdo. Llegamos y después de 15 minutos tratando de localizar al encargado, nos hace pasar, nos explica cómo nos debemos manejar en el hotel y pasamos a su oficina. Ahí nos llevamos la sorpresa (todos) que nuestra reserva no estaba registrada en el sistema. Así tuvimos que esperar un par de horas para que pudiera ver donde nos podría acomodar, porque teníamos muchas noches y no tenían una habitación disponible para todas ellas. Circuló la idea de tener que ir a otro departamento cercano unos días pero finalmente pudo encontrar habitación para nosotros, y pasamos a la primera habitación del viaje, la numero 17.

Era una habitación un tanto descuidada, incluso dentro de los estándares que uno debería tener dado el rango de precio que estábamos pagando. Pero había varias cosas que fallaban, la pileta del baño perdía, el extractor hacía mucho ruido, las alfombras estaban en mal estado, las camas, etc. Nada muy grave, pero pequeño detalles que sumaban. Tenía una ventana muy pequeña que daba a la nada, y la falta de ventilación hacía que la habitación fuera muy húmeda. Por suerte no pasamos mucho tiempo en el hotel durante los primeros tres días.

Al tercer día nos avisan que nos tenemos que mover a otra habitación, en otras circunstancias quizás hubiera sido una molestia, pero para nosotros en ese momento nos sirvió mucho. Ahí pasamos a la habitación número 10 y cambió el panorama totalmente.

Nos encontramos en una habitación más amplia, dos grandes ventanas, mucho más cuidada, el baño perfecto, tenía una mesita, un mueble, muchísimo mejor. El único problema es que no nos llegaba bien el wifi principal y el extensor no nos funcionaba, pero era un precio que estábamos muy dispuestos a pagar a cambio de todas las otras mejoras.

A raíz de este problema del wifi, como teníamos que trabajar y necesitamos una buena conexión, nos pusimos a investigar un poco el lugar y entonces, al cuarto día de estar en el hotel, otro encargado que estaba en ese momento nos dice que podíamos usar la sala de estudio (hasta entonces no teníamos idea de la existencia de toda esa ala, no nos la habían mostrado). Y ese fue otro factor muy relevante, porque no sólo teníamos acceso a ese área y a la cocina, ahora podíamos cargar agua fría y caliente del dispenser que tampoco sabíamos que existía, y guardar bebidas en la heladera.

En resumen, la experiencia arranco mal y termino mucho mejor. Vivimos dos realidades muy diferentes, si nos hubiéramos quedado solo los primeros tres días, o los últimos tres, el puntaje sería diferente, para un extremo o el otro.

Los puntos fuertes del hotel son la ubicación céntrica y el precio, pero opinamos que falta mejorar en la organización y algunas cuestiones edilicias. Pero principalmente la organización. La atención es buena, las intenciones son buenas y siempre hubo predisposición para arreglar los problemas, pero hay ciertas cuestiones que no deberían pasar.

De todas formas recomiendo probar el lugar y ojalá les salga la habitación ganadora...
