Hotel Asturias — Hotel in Municipio de Cafayate

We think it’s best to review this place in a list of pros and cons: ||Pros |- Soft sheets|- Good air con|- Breakfast says it ends at 10 but really you can go in at 10.30 and the breakfast man is very sweet (only member of staff we liked there)|- Pool was nice (if a little worn) |- They did print off a large document for me ||Cons|- They had messed up our booking and there was no apology - just hostility and as if we were inconveniencing them |- The key card never worked - we had to go up and down 3 times before anyone could be bothered to leave front desk to assist us |- The woman behind front desk was unfriendly and moody|- No hot water in the shower ever - we didn’t really wash there because of this |- An employee tried to overcharge me for a beer and when I looked in the menu and saw the actual price and contested him he shrugged and conceded (admitting guilt) |- I took a shining to a bowl of caramelos in the hotel lobby which were subsequently removed a day after our arrival ||We chose this place as a treat in the middle of a backpacking holiday and as that goes it sufficed. We really liked this hotel. It’s in a good location very close to the square but also very quiet. The room was really large for a standard room with a comfortable bed, a safe and a (noisy) mini bar. AC was efficient and quiet.||The breakfast was very pleasant with a good selection of home made fruit preserves and plenty of fresh fruit. They would make you eggs and fresh coffee too.||The staff were lovely and very helpful. We played a game in the bar and the staff offered us water when we didn’t need a drink. They only spoke Spanish but were patient with my limited language skills.||The pool area is very nice and the pool quite large although it is not heated so even in 33 degrees it was bracing. There is a spa and you can book a massage at a very reasonable price.||It could be a bit noisy in the corridors if people weren’t considerate. There were a lot of children in on our first night who were noisy and the bedroom doors closed with a bang whatever you did. Also the blackout curtains on the bedroom windows were not...
