I've been here a couple of times and it's been alright until today. I went in to have a meal and ordered their fillet mignon on the menu which clearly stated that it's 2 eye fillets wrapped in bacon. I ordered Medium and the steak came out Medium rare, and not only that the bacon was not wrapped around the eye fillet and drowned in brown sauce. i returned it saying that i asked it to be cooked to Medium and questioned why werent the bacon wrapped around the eye fillet and they said it's their new menu (thanks for not telling me when i ordered) They then took it back and recooked it. 2nd time round, the eye fillet was more rare than the first. When i asked the waiter to show it to their manager - that there was blood coming out of the steak, he didnt say anything and took the plate to the back. The Manager then came out and asked what was wrong, and offered a "complimentary coffee" to compensate for my lost of appetite and said there's nothing else they could do about it! Not only that the waiter said that there was no blood coming out of the steak - except it was "resting". Why would u serve ur guests steak that is still "resting"????!?!!! Overall bad experience!!! My friend who ordered a medium rare rib eye steak got a Medium steak instead. Never ever coming back here...
Read moreWe recently dined at the Windsor Gardens Hotel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Our table ordered 3 Roast of the Day (lamb) meals, which were advertised as coming with roast vegetables. What arrived was lamb with just two vegetables – potato and sweet potato. The lamb itself was extremely tough and chewy, making it unpleasant to eat.
When the waiter cleared our plates, we mentioned this to him. He returned saying the chef had “cut the roast the wrong way,” which was surprising since knowing how to properly carve a roast should be basic knowledge for any chef. The waiter also admitted that ours wasn’t the first complaint about the roast that day.
The vegetable bar was also lacking variety, with mostly potato options and very little else. Another meal ordered, the Gnocchi Alla Pana special, tasted good but the serving size was closer to a kids’ portion than an adult meal. At $30 this was overpriced.
In the past we’ve enjoyed meals here, but this visit was well below expectations. Sadly, based on this experience, we don’t see...
Read moreThursday night steak night only $25 for Porterhouse therefore I was not expecting much but still disappointed ☹️ Mentioned to waiter and pointer to 50% Gristle still on my plate (Answer sometimes that happens!). Also arrived at 6.30pm hardly anything left in Vegetable Bar and no pumpkin and what was there was ordinary. Member of party queried why so few vegetables, apparently needed to get there earlier, obviously our mistake thinking 6.30pm was not late. Oh and then the music which was quite nice (Fleetwood Mac etc) but pretty loud making it hard to talk. Politely asked the person taking meal orders to turn it down a bit after how I liked the music that was being played but just a bit loud, well she turned it down a maximum of half a decibal, that was the start of the evening little did I know it was downhill from there! Summary is food ordinary although cheap, staff do not listen or have a smart answer and ambience fine if you don't want to talk. Guess what sometimes people don't...
