Canning Bridge Auto Lodge — Hotel in Applecross

To start off, I'd give 2.5 stars if I could. Good room, friendly staff nice location for a hotel located next to a main road, public transport is very close whether it is bus or train. However there is a $200 deposit (which in my opinion is way to high for the level of accommodation) and you won't receive this back until 5-7 days after checking out. In my case (Checked out on the 4th) I've only just seen the money back in my account as I'm writing this. I was notified about a missing blanket and bedspread within the day of checking out. Cleaning staff need to check properly for each item in the room before reporting lost goods, I had stripped the bed and the pillows, bundled all of them together and placed them on the bed before I checked out as a courtesy to them, and then proceed to basically be accused of taking them home which seemed a bit ridiculous seeing how light I was traveling when I checked in and out. Thankfully the issue was resolved as I was onto them almost every day since checkout but that leaves the question of what if they couldn't locate the missing bedspread. Great place, staff were always very friendly and more than happy to help even with the issue mentioned above. Just leave the work to the cleaners and don't strip the beds and be prepared not to get your bond back...

If you’re looking at this place you’re obviously on a budget. No you’ve not stumbled upon a 5 star joint at a 2 star price, you’ve found a budget room in a budget motel, so expect budget stuff! |This is clearly on a major intersection so obviously you’ll expect road noise. Other budget customers are also here so expect some budget people noise. 😬|My room was adequate for the price. Bed was ok, had a hot shower, bath, kettle, TV and microwave. Yes there was a small punch mark in a door, the desk chair was faulty and I could smell cigarette smoke walking past some of the rooms. Typical budget stuff, no surprises. |These are the cheapest rooms in the golden triangle and you’ve got restaurants, bars, 24hr supermarket and the river on your doorstep. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay where you feel safe and comfortable do not stay here, we payed $160 for a double bed room which smelt musty as and the place was not properly cleaned. After return from dinner there was a couple having a full blown domestic in the room next door screaming and shouting. Banging onto walls. That room was connected to ours via an interconnecting door with no dead bolt and only a tiny screwed in latch to separate us from them. There was no staff on the premises at the time to remove them so we handed our key card in a made the 3 hour journey home in the middle of the night. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
