Good morning Hayashi Restaurant
I received an email from you, requesting feedback and I would like to offer the below, as my impression and recent experience.
We were a party of five, dinner session, to celebrate Mother’s Day. We had two Mothers in our party and one child. Having visited Hayashi some time ago, we expected good quality food and in that we were not disappointed. Well done. All of the food was fresh and tasty, if a little more expensive than expected from previous visits. The wasabi was good.
The “less than ideal” part of our experience was your choice and volume of music. We were seated directly underneath your wall speakers and the volume created problems with conversation. We did not receive two of the dishes we ordered and I suspect that this was due to your waitress not being able to hear clearly over the music. Afterall, she was standing and therefore even closer to the music. We were also unable to hear clearly when she read our initial order back to us.
The other half of that feedback is the choice of music being played. Our previous visits to Hayashi have been a true restaurant experience, with easy conversation, delicious food, a good choice of drinks, etc. A welcoming environment encourages guests to stay longer and it may be that you were needing to turn tables, so “boisterous” music may encourage guests to vacate quickly, allowing more parties through your restaurant. Honestly, our experience was more like a visit to Super Tetsudou and we did not feel encouraged to stay longer and buy more of your menu items. There was even a brief discussion outside on whether to stop at McDonalds on the way home.
It may be that you are attempting to attract a different; perhaps younger clientele and in that you may be successful, if you advertise as such. Perhaps “Disco Diner” or “J-Pop Eatery”.
With the greatest respect, your business model is your business, but it may be an idea to warn your potential, more mature guests, that it has become more of a...
Read moreThis place is beyond impressive. There was a gentleman looking very formal stood right at the counter next to the door. He never seemed to leave his post ( well as I could see). It reminded me of some fine dinning restaurants I went to, for some reasons. The ambient is authentic. The design is the mixture of authentic Japanese ( with all the wallpaper, pictures , and the traditional partitions ( they appeared like paper but of course, I did not try to poke it to prove I was right). The yellowish lighting was just right, warm and welcoming; yet, light enough to see things clearly. Staffs are very polite. There is a bar with a wide range of alcohol from beer on tap to sake) The wine glasses handing on top of the bar are spotless. All of them! Speaking of the staffs, one of them are this cute robot with big blue eyes. I have been to many places that use robots to deliver food the customers, but they don’t have those cute eyes like this one. I felt like I could just pet it like a cat. The food quality justifies the prices; therefore, no complaint on this matter. They also have catering sushi boats. If I have to entertain, I will not be hesitate to order one of them. There were four men sitting on the table next to me. They were really enjoyed themselves. A couples dining in together smiling and looking happy. Nevertheless, they also do Ubereats, so if you are too lazy (or tipsy) to drive there , stay safe at your comfortable home and order the delivery. This place is the hole in the wall. I highly...
Read moreWent there last night for my sister's birthday. It wasn't a good experience, deserves zero stars. Once seated in the corner, our table of 7 were ignored for 15min and had to collect menus ourselves. That's fine, staff were busy. But then other tables who sat down after us got served their drinks and orders taken. We caught the attention of the head front of staff who was making up tables. He looked us off and told us to wait. Fine. After asking another passing waitress to take our order, a third person finally came. Food orders taken, we didn't even get table water until asking 3 more times. 40mins before we had table water, whilst every other table had it immediately upon sitting. My grandma was wondering if they were racist; I thought surely not, but it's not hard to draw that conclusion whilst every other Caucasian table was being served and attend to despite arriving after us. Only when I questioned the waitress to see if she had a problem with us did the apologies start, but it was too late. Mood at the table had soured and it wasn't a good experience. Will not be back. Very disappointing to be spending big and to be treated poorly. I'm also embarrassed to have booked there for the...
