Oaks Brisbane Woolloongabba Suites — Hotel in Brisbane City

The parking is good and suitable for 4WD wagons. The rooms are quite spacious and the beds were good. The kitchen is ok but sparsely appointed in terms of cutlery and utensils and cooking equipment. For example there are no oven trays or baking dishes to use in the oven. Enough plates, cups for 4. Plenty of good food options within strolling distance at nearby Buranda. The cafe at the base of the building is a very good breakfast option. We were in 2 different apartments during our stay and the staff were really helpful in this regard. However the air conditioning didn't work at all in one of these apartments, and in the other it didn't work in one of the bedrooms. One the northern side of the building the train lines and motorway are immediately adjacent, metres away. You could throw a non-functioning aircon remote at a train and risk hitting it. The road/train noise was significant even on the eighth floor. On the other side of the building, looking south, the road noise is also pretty solid, especially if you need to have the tiny windows open because the aircon doesn't work. It's really expensive, well over 450/night over our 8 night stay. The location is good but I hope not to stay here again if I can avoid it. On arrival I was politely greeted & booked in quickly without any issues. All my questions were answered & the staff were very helpful. (Car parking onsite is perfect) * MUST BE PRE BOOKED* My apartment 812 was the 2 Bedroom Executive, a perfect base for my 7 day stay. I just walked in & set up. All I needed was supplies. #COLES, #BWS :-) .. I liked the open plan living & full size kitchen with breakfast bar that has 3 stools, overlooking the nice size 6 person dinning table which leads on to the lounge area. My apartment had a huge sunroom (#BRISBANECITYVIEWS) with another 6 person dining table. The 2 bedrooms were decently sized, 1 bedroom had a ensuite + BIR & the other bedroom had a WIR + a little extra floor space, (could be used for a child's play area). The study nook & the European style laundry + extra cupboard storage were a nice surprise. The apartment was clean & tidy Housekeeping staff are lovely, very respectful & polite. Nice place to stay, I feel the apartment needs a little paint & a freshen up otherwise it was a perfect base for my accommodation. Did I mention the ROOF TOP LESIURE AREA? Booked 3 nights here from 19/12/24 for my husbands surprise 40th but only stayed 1. Was not happy at all with the train line right next to the building/our rooms (oversight on my part) and the noise from the room above was ridiculous all night! Passenger trains were loud but the freight trains every 3 hours were insanely loud and frustrating! Must be residential above as they were walking around ALL night with loud bass music playing from 7pm-5am, doors opening and closing, chairs grinding on the tiles outside etc. No reception desk after 9pm so couldn’t complain till 6am when I’d only had 2.5 hours sleep. My little kids and husband didn’t sleep either. Wifi reception was woeful in our room 712. We transferred to Oaks Margaret Suites which was much better! I’m thankful to Maria who assisted this transfer. The actual rooms were nice and modern but not a good location re noise and felt more like a housing commission area...
