If you need a really cheap place to stay that's near everything and a block from the water, this is it. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for. Pro/con: Pros: Inexpensive Great location, you can walk to nearly everything Fantastic desk staff, very helpful with everything (bent over backwards when our flight was cancelled and we had to stay another day) Ultra-fast WiFi . . . but almost nonexistent internet itself (so, not helpful, see below). Very clean inside and out Beautiful pool Amazing landscaping Restaurant wasn't open for a lot of it, leaking gas line (fixed now) Two beautiful outdoor seating areas (not counting the pool or outside restaurant areas) Cons: Hot tub has been filed in with dirt and flowers. People needed to change rooms because the locks don't work They said to put a card on the bed if you wanted the sheets changed . . . but in 6 days no one has set foot in the room. Two towels (with no hand towels) for 6 days, we ended up using pool towels. Trash never taken out for 6 days. Lots of rotting wood, moldy outdoor tiles, lose railings, two cherry pickers taking up space in the parking lot (one has been here for two weeks without moving). The chair at the desk is over a foot too low (I'm over 6 feet tall and couldn't reach my keyboard). Extremely poor internet (didn't work at all for 2 out of 6 days). To use the elevator to the second floor, you have to carry your suitcases up a half-story set of stairs (which somewhat defeats the purpose of an elevator), then at the top lower your suitcases down a step ramp (seriously, who designed this?).

All started off well when we were able to check in slightly early. We parked our car in the underground car park and from there my heart sank. The lift up to our floor was dated and dirty, the corridors were also dated with rusty disability ramps. I opened the door with a sense of dread and it was confirmed. The floor was terracotta outdoor tiles with dirty grout in between. The bathroom was dated and so was the furniture, the bed was also small. There were lovely white plantation blinds on the windows but a couple of slats were missing which allowed light to come in and wake us up early. We had only been there a few hours and the Internet went down. I went down reception and was told it would be reset...after a few more hours my husband went down and was told it would be reset but still didn't work. It's now been 24 hours and still not working. As we didn't want housekeeping coming in and we didn't have a 'do not disturb ' sign in our room we went to ask in reception only to be told they don't have them but he would let housekeeping know not to do our room. We have just come back after a day out and our room had been cleaned. After travelling round Australia this is the worst room we have stayed in and definitely not a 4 star...a 2 at best. Very disappointed.

Don’t get conned!!! Motel refused to take any responsibility for issues when we attended in June. Advised there was a pool when booked, on arrival advised pool was being upgraded commencing 18th November (presume last year) but can’t believe a word they say. Manager Sarah was not interested in assisting to resolve the issue and blamed the travel agent. Failed to take any responsibility. We were told the public pool was only 10 minutes walk and they would supply a beach towel! Thomas the initial manager accepted to upgrade us initially but we had just unpacked and suggest we speak to the other manager Sarah the following day. Sarah was not interested and stated it’s not their problem. No chairs on balcony, had to drag chairs from room. Cleaning staff did a fine job. Toilet paper was in packets, apparently no rolls were available. Hard hats required when entering motel grounds as bits of the roof was falling after recent damage. No signs to indicate safe areas. Highly recommended all potential patrons stay away!!!

The worst hotel experience ever!

We booked a room at “Ramada Plaza by Wyndham at Cairns city centre” for 3 nights on agoda website. As frequent travellers it has been the biggest disappointment that we have ever had with a hotel and their staff! Assuming that it is a branch of Ramada plaza by Wyndham, my husband and I expected the same standards and similar quality as other Ramada plazas that we have been staying before in other countries/cities.

We got a room which was very different from the pictures in agoda . The room was smelling very badly , furniture scratched, uncleanliness in wardrobe and bathroom. I couldn't imagine sleeping in that room, no safe in the room, we couldn't believe how a 4 star hotel offers the guests this room! We got back to the reception, I was close to cry, I told the lady that we are very unhappy with the room, it is not clean and it is not similar to the pictures. She told us the pictures are from another room and this is not the room you paid for! what!!!! She said , it is our marketing uploading these pictures but the room you booked is different and your room is not renovated and ..... We told her that this not fair, you can not advertise something and sell something else and asked her if there was anything else to offer and she rudley told us "I can not offer you a free upgrade to a renovated room!" Very unpleasant, unprofessional manner. We asked her to connect us to her manager and she said he is not available and she can not call him! Anyways , we spent two hours on phone and laptop to contact agoda to let us cancel the booking and at the end we booked Double tree by Hilton, which was exactly in front of their hotel, which was like a heaven comparing to Ramada.

I strongly recommend people NOT to book this hotel. It is not similar to a four star Ramada Plaza! I don't know how Wyndham let them to manage this hotel like this! We lost our trust to...

My only issue with the place is the pool area. Water levels are about two inches too low, which doesn’t allow water to flow into the skimmers on the side: meaning the leaves remain at the bottom of the pool. When you’re in it, you can feel a layer of dirt on the floor of the pool. Though it is a comfortable size, it appears to not be cleaned regularly. When I arrived, there was a nappy sitting on a chair, it remained there for three days. There is a spa, but it’s currently being overtaken by plants growing from inside it. The rooms are good, small and clean (perfect size for two people), aircon isn’t very powerful and wouldn’t turn on until I turned the tv on, it’s a bit slow but does it’s job nonetheless. The shower head is flimsy, if you don’t make it face the wall behind it, it sprays water all over the bathroom from the very top of the head (over and far past the glass divider), there is also no plug so you can’t use the bath tub. Location is perfect, and overall the room itself is quite good. My only other issue is the noise the school directly behind the motel makes, but that is out of everybody’s control and generally unable to be heard if you close off the bathroom doors. The rooms come with basic necessities; coffee, tea, sugar, shampoo, conditioner, soap, kettle and mini bar fridge but no microwave or anything to cook food in. Staff are friendly with the limited interactions I have had with them. Overall I am not dissatisfied or disappointed...
