The problem is not the unsanitary rooms, the poor wifi, the old hotel falling apart or the no air conditioning from midnight but the owner. Rude aggressive person. Very brave yelling at kids most horrifically, can’t even say who you talk to like that. He scared the kids. I stepped in saying that under no circumstance he can yell at the kids like that, and if he has any problem with them he needs to tell me. He then went on threatening with cancelling our booking, I read here he has quite a reputation for it. Well known for his rudeness and threats, keep full money regardless of whether people stayed or not. To give a bit of background story, there was a drinking glass near the pool where kids were playing. Without checking the facts first, this person swore at the kids demanding to take the glass away from the pool in the most condescending and primitive way, yelling and swearing. I said I understand that the glass is hazardous and apologised for it, we didn’t realise the glass was there (I wasn’t even sure if the kids brought it to the pool or was it already there? I owned it anyway) but it was not necessary to use that kind of vocabulary and tone. Despite this, he carried on swearing and yelling because he didn’t like it, he felt exposed so he reacted with an old school bully style and saying none sense like he doesn’t need anyone’s money and he can do whatever he wants at his hotel and get out of his pool. Something is really off about this person, I saw him two days in a row at 9 am walking down the street with a can of beer in his hand visibly upset about something else. I wouldn’t rate this place as safe for families with kids, it will ruin your stay with his behaviour towards kids or anyone who has something to say. I will be reporting this place and person everywhere I can and never book the falling apart Lodge Bay again, after all, he doesn’t...

Rang up to ask a question about the rooms, and without really getting an answer the girl straight away demanded my card details for the booking. This should have been the first red flag, but I naively just went along with it.
The room was filthy. Hairs in the bed, bathroom from the 70’s and falling apart and dirty utensils in the cupboard. The wifi didn’t work and nor did the lock on the sliding door at the back. The pillows as thin as paper and the bed as comfortable as a plank of wood.
A comprehensive list of rules, demands and fines are printed on the back of the door, absolutely insulting to any adult of sound mind.
To top it all off, we awoke to a rude call from the girl that took the booking at 7am. Claiming the payment was “declined”. In reality she had simply taken the number down incorrectly, and who knows why it took them almost 24 hours to realise this. Half asleep, I told her I would come to reception shortly to pay again. However this led to the owner smashing on the apartment door moments later. Shouting, swearing and insulting. Demanding that I hand him my bank card there on the spot. In the moments that followed I was inundated with threats, including that he would “come and find me around town later”. He attempted to come back to the room to physically remove us, and took quite some time and a verbal argument for him to allow us to pack our belongings in peace. Stay anywhere but this place, especially if you have young children, the owner is...
Read moreFacilities are not amazing. It was good for what we paid. The staff are not great. This is how they responded to some constructive criticism about there being no laundry powder (the box and detergent bottle were empty so we assumed it was provided when the machine charges you) as well as there being a hockey team staying there making noise on both nights until 2.00am. I didn't mind it too much but thanks to their reply I would rather stay at one of the other hotels that look the same up the road. They are all on the one main road.
Reply "We supply the washing machines and dryer, I’m sorry that you had to walk 10metres to IGA and purchase $5 of washing power to wash your clothes, when I go on holidays I purchase my own laundry power as I dont expect to be supplied with laundry detergent by the hotel I am staying at. Yes, we had a hockey team staying with us but not once did you press the doorbell to advise us of them being abit loud, our noise curfew is 10.30pm which is clearly stated on the welcome note in your apartment which obviously you did not read, hardly our fault. The owner lives upstairs, hence why we are a lodge and we also have a...
