Rest Point Motor Inn — Hotel in Glen Innes

Stayd overnight on our way from a family holiday to the Gold Coast back to Lake Macquarie|I bit of a scenic but long drive across the mountains from Grafton.|Much slower than the Pacific Hwy but an alternative change from the busy coastal road.||I made the booking as we had never visited the town before, only driven through||A big selling point was the Steakhouse attached to the motel with pretty good reviews||The 2 bedroom family room was at the back of the motel opposite the pool (which was closed but not exactly swimming weather this far west anyway)||This meant we were away from the road noise out the front (the main highway passes by the front)|The room/ unit was a little musty when we opened it up and a little dated but very well kept and in good condition.|(I have to admit we were comparing it to our stay in more expensive and modern locations.|So keep that in mind as it's a small country town so it would be expected to be cheaper and maybe not as modern.||The steakhouse was nice and is obviousley popular with the locals but in our opinion it didn't live up to the online reviews. |The food was ok but not at the high price which was similar to what you would pay in a big city for a much better meal.||The sunset and sunrise was beautiful from our front window||Overall it was a place we had not visited before but given our home location we would not use the NEH in future for our trips to Qld as it was a much longer drive home the next day. |For interest, 10 hours from Glen Innes to Morisset plus the 5 hours from Gold Coast to Glenn Innes the day before compared to around 9 hours from Morisset to Gold Coast. ||Many years ago the NEH and Pac hwy's were similar in time from Sydney to Qld and I preferred that trip with higher speed and fewer towns to the crowded towns you had to drive through but these days the PH with all the motorways and bypasses is so much easier and...

Our overnight accommodation was booked by Group Link travel so it was dearer than if we booked it ourselves, $170 we paid. Some of us had the nice suits with a kitchenette with sink and very spacious modern rooms and spacious bathrooms and most of us had the basic standard dated rooms. Our accommodation my husband and I received was your standard dated room. It was comfortable and spacious with separate bathroom with toilet.. Bed & pillows were comfortable. Had coffee, tea, sugar, real Norco milk. Same problem as I found on all accommodation on our trip you had to fill the jug in the bathroom sink and it was too big to fill. Please get small jugs so they fit under the water spout. Shower was terrible myself and another lady next door were showering at the same time and it affected the water temperature and pressure not that there was much to begin with. So trying to wash my hair was a nightmare and took a lot longer than it normally would. There’s a pool but we didn’t use it. There’s parking but not undercover but a few of us got our bikes and parked them on the walkway outside our room to get them undercover. The room and bathroom were clean and thats all that you ask for really well a good working hot shower as well. We had a fully cooked breakfast the next morning in the steakhouse restaurant and it was delicious except the scrambled eggs they were way too sloppy for my liking. Fried or poached eggs would have been nice to have as an option as well. But overall it was a great breakfast. Me and my family came to glen innes for my grandfathers funeral. We were rudely approached for being too noisy on the first night, all's we were doing was sitting in the room have a laugh and talking. The rudeness towards us prompted me to shorten our stay as we felt we couldnt do anything in the room without being approached. Went to the funeral, the following morning, whilst we were gone house keeping had come into my room to give new towels etc. I had my tablet sitting on the table with my pen in the back of it. When we had returned back later in the afternoon I went to use my tablet and my pen had been taken. I had notified the owners of the situation which they had stated they would look for the pen. This was on the Wednesday morning, I hadn't had a update, Saturday afternoon I phone through and ask for an update, to be told that they went through the entire room and couldn't find it, that they trust their cleaners and left it at that. I find it quite disappointing considering the circumstances of our stay we had to go through this. There is no compensation or anything. I was also told that our room was a complete mess in which it wasn't, it was left very tidy.
