Preface: I do so wish I could give half stars, Hereford would be a 4.5. But they’re not a five so it’s gotta be 4. My overall impression of Hereford Steakhouse Char Grill is that it’s a fantastic restaurant and steakhouse for the area, but missed a few marks here and there. Firstly the sole waitress and maître die was fantastic, quick, efficient, charming and confident. She ran the bar, seated guests and served meals by herself as if she were a 3 person team. Fantastic. The meals aim at a “nice restaurant” vibe but don’t quite carry the care, nuance and attention to detail that a “nice restaurant” would have. My entree was the crumbed bocconcini with tomato chilli sauce. They were delicious, cooked just right although the tomato chilli sauce had a great tomato flavour but no trace of chilli. For main I ordered a 250gm rump fillet, medium rare with blue cheese sauce and pepper sauce, chat potatoes with sour cream and the green beans and almonds. The steak was a solid medium, bordering on well done. The potatoes were fairly plain and slightly undercooked while the green beans, which were delicious, were again on the over cooked side. Was the food delicious? Yes. Would I come back again? Probably. I felt like I was getting what I paid for, but I feel that on a different night I might order the same thing and be blown away. For dessert I had, at the waitresses recommendation, the sticky date pudding, which was genuinely fantastic. I leave well fed and grateful and would recommend coming here for a relaxed but high quality dinner.

Oh dear, I had such high hopes for this place. Sadly, it's overpriced and the meat underwhelming. I asked for sauce on the side and it came smothered with an awful Bearnaise out of a bag. The waitress was nowhere to be seen, otherwise we would have said something... Meat was obviously cooked from cold, tough and terrible as we're the sides. Only good things were the oysters natural and the wine.... Sticky plastic tablecloths and rancid lighting topped off an expensive and revolting evening.

6pm, 01.06.2021 It is very easy to get to the restaurant, also easy to park for cars as well as trucks (plenty of on street parking). It’s located right on the New England Hwy at Glen Innes (2 hour west from Grafton). The steak was a little tough, but the sauce (blue cheese, $2) really helped me enjoying the steak. The chat potato was really nice as it comes as 2 little ones instead of a large chunk. The staff was friendly. Overall experience was good.

First visit tonight. Bianca the waitress was very welcoming, warm and professional. Bianca was on the ball with all aspects of hospitality. The food come within the expected time frame. We had chicken wings entree which had a delightful spicy sauce that had a good hint of heat and flavour. Mains were between four- Sausages w Mushrooms, the sausages were of great size and taste. The Mushrooms had a topping on them and had great texture and taste. Lamb shank, it was a hearty size and was well accompanied with a medley of vegetables. The meal was very enjoyable. 2 x 350g beef rib fillet, with surf and turf plus one had chat potatoes w sour cream and chives with green beans with almonds, the other was chips and vegetables. The entire meals were cooked to perfection and the sides were generous also. Very tasty meal. Desserts were 2 x apple and rhubarb crumble. The crumble has wonderful spice mix that was delectable. 1 crepes w lemon&lime curd and raspberry colouis. Yummy. I recommend you come and...

Unfortunately we were quite disappointed 😔 We ordered 2 steaks and a kids meal, the steaks were both porterhouse were cooked as requested however both extremely tough and well below the quality we expected.... we generally have better quality from Woolworths cooked at home, the veggies were good. The kids meal at $14.95 without a drink (add $4 for apple juice) was rediculous and the most I have ever paid for a meal for my 5yr old. For the expensive prices our expectations were higher and we left feeling like we certainly wouldn't come back here. A rare treat for our small family to go out for dinner and at just under $100 for 2 adults main meals, 1 x drink each and the kids meal with drink (so no entree or deserts) it was a real disappointment. The atmosphere could do with some improvement too, adding a TV in the dining room or background music or similar would break the silence and lighten the...
