Asked If I could book another night stay but wouldn't know until the morning and told that's fine as long as you come to reception before 10am tomorrow morning that won't be a problem we can arrange payment then. The following morning I Retuned to reception at 9.30am and another lady was on. This lady was very loud and rude as she told me that I can't stay another night and I must leave the room before 10am as I've booked that room. I returned to the room stund and upset. As I'm doing my best to get out of the room asap the room phone starts ringing, the time now is 9.50am. Answering the phone she kept insisting that I vacate the room and kept repeatedly instructing me to vacate in the most rude manner. I later learned that she was the owner of the motel. I'd learned this from the staff of the Abbey motel as I drove straight there to ask for a room. Unfortunately they were fully booked. The Abbey told me that upon hearing about my unpleasant experience, they were not surprised as I was just another victim of a long line of upset customers that make the short 100mtr journey from the one motel to the other who've been handled in varied degrees of disrespect . The kind staff of the Abbey motel directed me to the Fitzroy just up the road. Apon entering the Fitzroy motel and reception I was made to feel welcome and to my delight they did have a vacancy. The young lady at reception was pleasant and polite.. avoid the quality inn people, you've been warned. To the owner of the quality inn, you are the most rude and disrespectful person I have ever known in the hospitality industry,of which I have many years experience. I will say the room was cold and the air con wasn't working properly. I guess that room and the owner have something...
Read moreI booked this property to stay on my way back to Brisbane. I picked Quality Inn as I thought it would be a modern, well-presented property as many in that chain are. I was happy to pay $185 a night as it was school holidays and I only booked the day before. However, upon arrival I found a room that would be more in the $140 range. As mentioned by a couple of previous reviewers it was tired and in need of a refurbishment to match the prices it charges. I notice that even outside school holidays this property has the hide to charge $167/$176 - very poor value for money, The management seemed to playing on the Quality Inn name - no quality here. ||However, the real problem started when I attempted to use the basin hot water tap (room 6) and it was turn off so tightly that I could not use it. Using a spanner from my car I managed to turn it on but it immediately sprayed me with water. I reported the problem to the rather disinterested receptionist who said she would report it to the manager. I suggested that I deserved a $10.00 discount but of course I have never received an apology or the discount for the inconvenience caused. A continental breakfast was available in the dining room in the morning which was OK but not what you would expect in that price range property. I will certainly never be staying at this...
Read moreGood location, good accomodation. We booked a family unit (Cottage 37) for one night on our way through to Brisbane. The booking was easy, staff were great. Plenty of easy parking within the motel precinct, especially considering we were towing a trailer so had a long footprint. The cottage was really nice, an old renovated bungalow with aircon to cool the place down. Nice furniture (a lot of silky oak pieces) with good spaces for a family: kitchen, lounge, parents' bedroom and kids beds in the enclosed verandah. Decent bathroom and toilet. I'd go 4.2 stars if Google would let me do fractions and but for the fact that the main bed was terrible, for me. I need a firm mattress, and the main mattress was too soft for me, and my wife. I ended up trading places to sleep on my kids bed and my wife woke with a sore back. Mind you, we both have rubbish backs and have a pretty firm mattress at home. Food options either via room service (but $7 per tray of room service delivered seemed a bit exy) or local restaurants in immediate area. We got takeaway from the Thai Palace across the road that was more than decent. The breakfast buffet was ok and quite reasonably priced. All up, this place is worthy if you want reliable good quality, just watch out for the main mattress in Cottage 37 if you don't...
