I booked a three night getaway in Kangaroo Valley and decided to book our stay at the Wildes boutique hotel. Unfortunately we encountered a problem with the reservation and were told it wasn’t ready once we arrived at the hotel. However we were highly impressed by how they handled this situation from this point. Vivi, the receptionist at the time went above and beyond to accommodate us and got us a room ready in less than two hours. Whilst it was not ideal how our reservation was missed, we appreciate the exceptional customer service we received. We stayed in Hampden suite, which is a large room with one king bed and one bathroom. The room has small kitchenette with a kitchen sink, microwave, mini refrigerator, kettle and some kitchen utensils and cutlery and crockery. Room was spacious and had a seating space with a TV and a small dining table for two. Bedding was fresh and comfortable. Bathroom had lovely amenities. Both the room and the bathroom were clean. There is a peaceful seating area in the middle with a water fountain and beautiful flora. They offer secure indoor parking which is a lifesaver in wet weather. The hotel is in the middle of the town so there’re some cafes to grab coffee and breakfast. Please note though, dining options are very much limited in this area. Unfortunately even the hotel restaurant didn’t offer breakfast although it was advertised that they do offer breakfast everyday. It seems everything is closed on Tuesdays. So make sure to be prepared for your supplies if you book a Monday or a Tuesday.

Wildes restaurants gets 3 stars from me because of the over priced cocktails, terribly suggested wine and this (see pic) massive disappointment they call potato wedges. The cocktail that my wife had, Moscow on Fire, did not taste of any alcohol but was over powered with lime. It was $26, I have paid more for cocktails before and would’ve been absolutely fine with it here if it tasted good and not like lime juice. I had a wine, I was debating between the Pinot noir and the Shiraz. They only have one drink from each category that is priced per glass. They have multiple options per category but they all should be bought as a bottle. So if you like Shiraz or Pinot noir or Chardonnay and don’t want to drink a whole bottle, you are restricted to that one drink from each wine type. I asked which is better, between the Pinot noir and Shiraz and was told the Pinot noir. It wasn’t that good. It was a 2020 St Maur. I will give a pass on the wine recommendation since the server is not a sommelier. But the lack of selection is a negative. The potato wedges was terrible, only good thing about it was the price, $15. It was undercooked, over baked, was coated with a strong tasting oil. The garlic dip was good however. Without the dip I wouldn’t have eaten the 2 wedges I did. My review would’ve been 2 stars if not for the really good calamari, empanadas and mushroom bruschetta. Total was $119 for 2 and I will admit that’s very reasonable.

I booked Lorikeet room for 3 nights. It was a solo trip to KV. Enjoyed every moment. Glad I booked with Wildes. From the moment you step in the hotel, you can feel the calm ambient. Was greeted with a charming smile by a male staff (Lucca) upon check in ( he happened to be walking past the reception area). Not only he has a charming nature, he also makes elegant cocktails. Mitch and Lucca made my trip very memorable. Both gentlemen were extremely friendly and caring. My room was very spacious. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. It was so nice and quiet and no noise from neighbours or from the street. Bathroom was spacious too with a nice big bath and stocked with Appells luxurious products. Loved the Himalayan salt bath which was supplied. There was a free bottle of champagne and delicious cookies waiting on the table for me. The courtyard was one of my favourite area. Love the way it’s set up with a water fountain. Nice just to sit there and relax with coffee, tea, wine, book or nothing. Very nice pool area also. The highlight of my stay was the Wildes dining room. Breakfast was beautiful especially the coffee and the banana bread. A very big thank you to Lucca and Mitch again for making my stay so pleasant and unforgettable. Highly recommend this hotel in a cosy Kangaroo Valley. Can’t wait to be back!

3 star hotel at 5 star prices. Very clean spacious rooms and dog friendly which is absolutely awesome with a small private courtyard which is great. Dogs are charged $75/per dog although they only charged us for one. There are no facilities for the dog rooms so make sure to bring bowls for good and water. The rooms are basic but comfortable and must have double glazing as it was super quiet...Bathroom (wetroom) is well stocked with Appells which is a treat :) Our room had a wetroom which means when you have a shower, the whole bathroom is wet...would prefer if there were some barriers to avoid the water spilling put everywhere. Our room had a sink with necessary cleaning up fluids tea towels, tea/coffee and a fridge. They do provide complimentary water although if you are there for one than 1 day, they don't restock. They also don't wash the dishes in your sink but do clean the sink...The hotel itself doesn't have a kitchen yet so no room service but there are options very near by. I would suggest booking in advance though as both restaurants (Thai and Indian) were fully booked on Friday night (also, see separate review on the Valley Curry House, I wouldn't recommend). The pub is right across the street so convenient. The hotel provides parking as well so avoids you having to park on the street. Good location with post office cafes and small boutique stores nearby. There is also a lovely courtyard for all to use and I can see this being a great hang out in the summer. This hotel has great potential and would be good once the kitchen is up...

This is the 4th time my partner and I have stayed at Wildes. Our previous stays have been a fantastic and very positive experience, however this time around it was somewhat disappointing. The room decor was aesthetically pleasing, room location was great, the bed was very comfortable, and surprisingly I found a super comfy pillow (normally bring my own). Breakfast was included with our stay, although a limited menu the food was very good. The restaurant needs improvement and I believe they would benefit from not only more staff but having a Manager to oversee and ensure the restaurant runs smoothly, and that customer service was top priority as this was sadly lacking. Staff were for the most part friendly, but seemed unhappy, unhelpful, and unapproachable. In addition, upon check in the elevator was working which was perfect as our room was located on level 1 right next to the lift. But as the elevator had not been fixed upon check out my partner and I had to carry our luggage down 2-3 flights of stairs! In addition, no signs were displayed advising guests the elevator was in fact out of order. My partner and I have already booked to stay over the New Year period, but I must admit I'm having second thoughts as the restaurant really lets Wildes down. I'm aware Wildes is under new management, so perhaps the current owners should take some tips from the previous owners as they had not only the right number of staff but staff that were customer focused, happy, friendly, approachable, accommodating, helpful and provided excellent...

We stayed just for one night on our way back home to Sydney. The stay was going incredibly well until we decided to grab breakfast at the attached restaurant, the experience itself would be 1 star.

Pros: The rooms were large, modern, clean and generally well kept. The bed and the pillow options were incredibly comfortable. The secure parking on site was a bonus. The pool and grounds in general were all beautiful and well maintained. It’s in good proximity to the local pub and a few local stores.

Cons: I’m not sure if it’s a one-off as most other reviews said the service was great but from the minute we walked in the door to breakfast to the time we left, we were disappointed. Firstly, it’s not clear if you find your own seat or wait to be seated, we stood around for a while before we approached a staff member to ask. It took a while to take our order and this was only initiated by us making a gesture. We then waited more than 45 minutes after ordering for the food. By the time our food was served, there was only one other person waiting who was offered a coffee on the house yet we weren’t offered anything and we had waited longer than that person. We then went to pay for the breakfast and after standing at the register for about 5 minutes, we asked the receptionist if she could take our payment and she rudely said yes before doing so. Again, I’m not sure if the staff were all having a bad morning but I would never eat here again. The food was okay but certainly not worth the 45 minute wait.

TLDR: accomodation is fabulous,...
