We decided to order and take away a 3 course meal for 2 because - why not.

We ordered the prawn tempura and garlic bread for entrees, beef cheeks (specials of the day) and pork ribs (specials of the day) for main, and 2 sticky date puddings for dessert.

The bistro allowed take aways and ensured that we didn't have too far to drive because the ice cream in the sticky date would melt. Luckily we were staying locally 👍

The prawn tempuras were crispy and well flavoured. The ribs were flavourful. The beef cheeks were tender, moist and delicious! I have to say though, the sticky date pudding with ice cream takes the cake! Unlike the supermarket overly sweet version, the sticky date pudding was moist, spongey and you can taste the dates slightly. The low fat ice cream did all the sweet talking. I ate both puddings and regretting not getting more!

The food came out reasonably quickly (probably around 40mins with about 10 groups in front of us when we ordered).

Unfortunately I didn't take photos of my dinner that time, however, here's a photo of the half-eaten sticky date pudding.

Highly recommended and would...

Absolutely disgusting place, we were coming through Kangaroo Valley during the night so we decided to stop for food but what we found was beyond a shock.. The tables were dirty - we watched someone else leave, someone working there picked up their plate and didn't wipe the tables down, super unhygienic.

We ordered food, the table we were placed at had dirt on it, absolutely disgusting, we ordered food off the menu and WITHOUT any sign or notices, we were told there's a 10% surcharge for weekends... Never have i ever seen this in my life even in Coffs Harbour down to Eden and we travel alot of places on the coast for work.

Food came out and it was a bit average and the fish tasted like cardboard but digging through the salads we found super old lettuce that was BLACK AND ROTTEN!,(Got a photo before some worker started staring at us looked like he was about to threaten/intimidate us) Proof they don't wash their containers at all - this place is a disappointment and really disgusting....

10$ for a VB, $16 for a litre of coke no sugar that cost 800% less ( it was not a machine, it was just poured straight out of the plastic bottle) there were surcharges EVERYWHERE. Taking out clients with disabilities and the fact that they can’t spend a lot and have to result in getting kids meals because of high cost is just so devastating $16 for a kids meal. I had a very average beef burger, the bun was not toasted but all the other burgers that came out had toasted buns. We got there super early and it’s a shame we were not treated as if we were anything special. No warmth or welcomeness. I probably Will not be back. There’s way more value out there for your money. It’s getting to the point where we have to choose what to spend our hourly wage on and if it’s not up to par it’s such a waste. I don’t care if the valley is a wedding spot, it doesn’t mean that you can make an 800% profit off of...

My family and I came here on Easter Sunday, place was crowded (as you’d expect on a public holiday) and the food was delicious! We especially loved the BBQ pork ribs, it was slow cooked to perfection and super tender 😋 Wagyu Rump was great too. Needless to say we finished everything on the table hehe. The place itself has been around for hundreds of years and has a cosy homely feel to it. Indoor seating is limited but there’s plenty of outdoor seating with the bonus of a live band! Speed of service was pretty fast considering the number of customers, you can see how hectic the kitchen is yet everything moved along smoothly - shoutout to the kitchen staff for being awesome! I think the only thing they can improve on is the lack of non-dairy alternatives for coffee. All in all, amazing food and views at reasonable prices 😍 I would definitely visit again the next time I come to Kangaroo Valley 💯
