BAD experience staying here, I've chose to live in the apartment here because of its rather cheap price and big space. However the first thing that 'welcomed' me was a strong smell of paint, which makes unable to move in for the first week. I have to stay in a hotel and paid a steep price. When I complained this to the staff, their attitude was like it's my problem, I should be the one to fix it. The second thing is about the network. Although it's unlimited and fast as it claimed but it's not suitable for online gaming especially for first person shooter games, and it's still bad even after I paid extra 20 dollars for a broader bandwidth. It's is very unstable and high peek of ping frequently occurs. That's so much for my first two weeks, actually it can be seen as my first week in unilodge cuz I spent my first week wondering around different hotels. Now I have a whole year to go...
Thanks for your reply. The smell is getting better. Nevertheless, it still took a month to dissipate since my accommodation. Other than that, the wifi experience is pretty unsatisfying. The wifi itself is very unstable, the speed freqently dropped to just a few KBs. Hope there would be some improvements in the future :)
After 2 years, I'm now getting a water bill collection from the date that I moved. Looks like the place still haunts me... It said that I owe AU$79.66 for three month worth of water. I compare it to the other property that I lived after I moved out, I got about AU$35 three months charge with the same water company, with two people living in the property. I don't know why is my water bill at Unilodge was soooo expensive, it all around AU$70+ for a single person per three month and I barely used waters???? I had paid all those expensive bill as it was my first time in Australia paying utility bills and had no prior experience or any references to warn me that the price was not normal. As I talked to the staff from City West water today and they told me that my water bills from Unilodge were all estimated due to inaccessibility, so I had to pay steep water prices for the whole year during my stay in Unilodge! You never consider upgrade your water meter for students' sake, what a...
Read moreReview effective as at 12/03/2019, for non-studio apartment only
-non-studio hostel's shared areas often ruined by some of its own tenants (kitchen, bathroom, laundry). -noise may occur outside the premises depending on the room location you got, which you might want to contact the Melb authorities rather than your premises manager. -Noise WITHIN are the worst in shared dorm most tenants doesn't really hold much to considerations for others. -room walls are thin, can be quite mentally challenging for studying environment. -security are fob-protected, losing the key can be costly. -bond anchoring, rent must be paid as signed contract until term ends. -non-studio kitchen area is where I leave the rest of the critics to Gordon Ramsay.
+Very flexible location (main spotlight) +Unlimited wifi, though horribly managed when the internet starts loading really slowly or wouldn't load properly. +premises cleanliness actively maintained +great desk reception service, responsive to open recommendation for improvement +community events available for all residents to meet up and have fun
Optional preparations for non-studio room tenants: Getting your own bar fridge, ricecooker/cooking pan/electronic portable stove.
2/5, not for lone-living, only pick this spot if you're planning for...
Read moreVery bad experience staying here. Staff are very inconsiderate. I don't even know why they work there. My light and shelf in the room were broken since the day I moved in and it was never fixed till the day I moved out. I would always get answers like we will look into it but no action was taken. The kitchen was always filthy and other than an oven nothing else like stoves etc were provided which made life even harder. The kitchen door was broken too and this means it is easier for the smoke from the kitchen to go out and trigger the smoke alarm which means how ever was unlucky had to pay minimum of 3000 dollars as a fine. Overall just a bad experience and wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here. There are many better options for...
