Queen Victoria Market is an iconic destination in Melbourne that truly embodies the city's vibrant spirit and cultural diversity. As a regular visitor to this bustling marketplace, I can attest to its charm and allure, offering an unforgettable experience for locals and tourists alike.

One of the highlights of Queen Victoria Market is its eclectic mix of fresh produce, gourmet delights, artisanal crafts, and multicultural cuisine. From farm-fresh fruits and vegetables to delectable pastries and savory street food, the market is a paradise for food lovers and culinary enthusiasts. Exploring the labyrinth of stalls, each offering a unique array of goods, is an adventure in itself, promising delightful surprises at every turn.

While Queen Victoria Market is a delightful destination at any time of day, there's something truly magical about visiting it at night. As the sun sets and the market comes alive with twinkling lights and lively music, the atmosphere becomes even more electric. The Night Market, held on select evenings, is a must-visit experience, showcasing a tantalizing array of international cuisine, live entertainment, and artisanal products. It's the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of Melbourne's nightlife while indulging in delicious food and discovering hidden gems from local vendors.

Moreover, visiting Queen Victoria Market at night offers a respite from the daytime heat, allowing you to leisurely stroll through the aisles and soak in the ambience without the crowds. Whether you're savoring a gourmet meal under the stars or browsing for unique souvenirs, the Night Market promises a memorable and enchanting experience that captures the essence of Melbourne's eclectic culture.

This comment is solely about this pharmacy, not the entire Queen Victoria Market.

I just experienced the most awkward five minutes of my life. This pharmacy is close to me and offers parcel collection, so I chose to have my online order delivered here. I used my English first name and my original surname when ordering — the same as I’ve done before when picking up parcels at the post office, with no issues.

However, the lady at this pharmacy didn’t see it the same way. After checking my ID, she pointed out that the name on the parcel didn’t exactly match the one on my ID and told me I should use the same name next time. I said “OK” — a bit confused — and somehow, that seemed to upset her even more.

She then started lecturing me quite sternly, saying she had to take responsibility, and the pharmacy had to take responsibility. I suggested she could verify using my phone number or the collection code. She asked, “What’s a collection code?” I showed her on my phone, and she didn’t even glance at the screen — instead, she loudly told me to read it to her.

I honestly felt like a school kid being scolded for doing something wrong. After she finally handed me the parcel, she continued telling me off for not using the same name. I just grabbed the parcel and left as quickly as I could — didn’t want to stay...

I first went to Victoria Market in 1983. It has continued to improve beyond what was Victoria's pre-eminent produce market back then. The fresh high quality produce is where health conscious people shop. Meat, vegetables, market garden cut flowers, the genuine foreign food stuffs and cheeses from all over the world are of the finest quality. Whenever I get the opportunity to travel there I've easily saved 33% on meat comparable to major retailers such as Coles & Woolworths. Living on the Peninsula, it is one of the main reasons I miss living in the inner suburbs. For the best cut flowers between 1am & 4am is optimal, when you'll get the pick of that day's harvest. Having being a spruiker for my mate's flower stall for 6 months provided a unique opportunity to discover its offerings. Buying meat in bulk saves roughly 50-60%, pro rata, on my normal mthy expenditure. A centre of authentic excellence well worth...

Charming Morning at Victoria Market – A Taste of Italy and More! I spent the morning at Victoria Market, and it was such a beautiful experience. I didn’t have a full meal—just snacked and soaked up the atmosphere. One of the highlights was a delicious, traditional Italian cannoli from a charming little Italian shop tucked in the deli section. Perfectly crisp shell, smooth ricotta filling—absolutely divine. I also enjoyed one of the tastiest coffees I’ve had in Melbourne—rich, strong, and made with love. There’s something really special about wandering the market in the morning, coffee in hand, with the smells of fresh bread, spices, and sizzling food all around. Even with just a few small bites, the experience was full of flavour and culture. The variety of street food options is amazing—every corner feels like a different country. Can’t wait to come back and explore more!

The Vic Market was being refurbished on the day I went. Google Maps got me to the general area but wanted me to go down a 1 way street. Thankfully the parking lot signposts were fantastic and I found my own way. Parking was confusing for this country bumpkin, I didn't know to drive in without a ticket as they use number plate recognition software. At home time you enter your number plate into the parking payment machine and it tells you the cost (first 2 hrs $6 and $4 for every hour after that). The stalls were varied and interesting. Fresh cooked food, fruit, veg, meat, gifts, clothes, bags, toys, everything. I think I was the only person wearing a mask, which felt weird, so be warned Melbourne market goers aren't mask wearers. It was a good afternoon, I loved it.
