My husband and I just spent a lovely week at the Silver Sands Resort, Mandurah WA. About an hour's drive south of Perth on the coast. The weather was perfect. We had a very nice, large, 2 bedroom-2 bathroom unit on the first floor. The unit is well maintained and fitted out with a good supply of all kitchen equipment. It also has a washer and dryer. The units are serviced weekly. BYO bathroom toiletries and tissues. A starter pack of tea/coffee/sugar + milk, as well as dishwasher detergent, and washing machine detergent is provided. WiFi was a bit patchy. Our unit overlooked the side street which was good because I think units that overlook the main street (Mandurah Terrace) would receive more traffic noise as it is quite a busy road particularly on friday/saturday nights. There was minimal neighbour noise so pretty soundproof. The resort has a very nice, large pool but it is unheated and a bit too cold for me at this time of year. There was plenty of pool furniture and shade if needed. There is also a small indoor heated pool which was heated to almost spa temp. Rather warm! Several tables and chairs in the heated pool area. Everything well maintained. Both upstairs and downstairs units have several stairs to their entrance. All buildings are 2 stories. No lifts. There are 2 units near reception with flat access. All units have a nice size balcony with table and chairs and the balconies are all private from the neighbours. The resort is located about 5 minutes drive from the main Mandurah waterfront shops, restaurants and foreshore area. The foreshore area is very nice, well shaded, with free access sea based swimming pools. There are heaps of restaurants across from the foreshore on the canals and waterfront on the other side. There are lots of parking areas and it is all free. No parking meters in sight anywhere. Next door to the resort is a tavern which serves basic pub meals at reasonable prices wed - saturday. A few minutes walk away is also a supermarket, pharmacy, bakery and several fast food outlets and a couple of restaurants. Mandurah is a very nice area, with plenty of things to do...
Read moreLoved the location and facilities that is offered shame you have to deal with the office staff as their customer relations skills are very poor. I would recommend the resort but the staff have real bad issues and shouldnât be dealing with the public.
I recently visited this resort on my own with my 4 grandchildren and the way they all spoke to me was discourteous and not respectful. They only way they talk to you is in a belittling way.
On there requests they ask you to notify them before you leave. I notified them immediately that my grandson hit his head on the soap holder in the shower and broke it. As you can appreciate, these are not easy to break. The response I got from the office staff was shocking. With no niceties she demanded I pay for it without one inch of concern for my grandson she only demanded I pay for it.
On entry there is also extra parking for overflow or guests at $15. On my mistake I did not know that it was overnight only and key had to be returned. I used this option for 1 night. Unfortunately for me, they rang me during my stay a couple days later and informed me of this. I apologised for my mistake but demanded I still pay for this.
The above are only a few of the dealings I had with the office staff. I am a very patient person but my patience was wearing thin. I could add many more. But I will add that maybe they all need a course on how to be courteous...
Read moreExtremely run down resort for time share guests. We forfeited our stay when they couldn't accommodate our number of guests as committed during booking. Whilst we understand the local fire regulations, there was really no need to threaten to evict us IN the event that we were caught with more than the regulated number of guests - especially when the fault was not ours to begin with.
########################## Update. The owners responded to say that my review was inaccurate. The fact was that the number of occupants was verbally communicated during the booking process and there was a mistake by the staff to not factor in children as guests. If you really want to know the reason why we decided to abandon our booking in the end, it was because of the shabby state that the resort was in. It was initially agreed that we will adjourn to the apartment to discuss how we can split our family i.e. who should leave the resort to stay somewhere else. When we arrived at the apartment, it was a no brainer that no one should even stay in such a condition. This was the reason why our whole family left. Not because you did not want to break the law. It was never our expectation to have you break any laws or risk our lives without insurance coverage anyway. Eventually, we did find somewhere much nicer (serenity on...
