It has some good features but in some ways falls short of a 4 star rating. Facilities - pros: our room, though not large, was nice and clean, newly renovated, good aircon, nice beds, shiny new bathroom, good shower (but no bath.) Families with young kids loved the water park. The pool is nice, jacuzzi very popular (and warm.) Happy hour at the pool was a hit with the punters, who were getting into the $9 cocktails and other drinks. The pool is open till 9pm and you can get drinks at the poolside bar till closing time. There is also mini-golf and a tennis court, both available at no charge for guests. Facilities - cons: The fan in the toilet/shower did not work. The reading lamp on one of our beds did not work. The phone in our room did not work. I reported it and it was fixed but still I couldn’t use it because didn’t have instructions on how to dial out or dial reception, or make a dinner reservation. Also no info in the room about dinner/breakfast start and finish times. It turns out this info is available if you scan the QR code on the back of the wi-fi card that they give you, but the card doesn’t say what the QR code is for. A simple info sheet in each room would solve this. The wi-fi is also pretty rubbish. No balcony in our room - view of a car park. The location - pros: it’s near Woolies, BWS, Dan Murphy’s, doctors and pharmacy, and “Seafood Market”, a local fish n chips/seafood place (recommended.) You can walk to the Esplanade in 5 minutes, a nice stroll or cycle to Bulcock Beach, Happy Valley and a bit further to Kings Beach. A short drive to Shelly, Moffat and Dicky Beaches (all stunning.) Kayak, paddle board and boat hire also close by on the esplanade. The location - cons: it doesn’t look out onto water/beach/nature, it’s surrounded by roads in a town. To get to the esplanade you need to cross a road without any lights or pedestrian crossing - a bit hairy if you’re with young kids. Eating at the resort - pros: there is an all-day menu and a dinner menu. Both offer quality food at pretty reasonable prices. The kids menu has many options (for about $15 each) including rump steak, buttered vegetables, macaroni and cheese. I had slow-cooked pork ribs with mashed potatoes and veggies (real good) for $35. Salad from the day menu was excellent. The breakfast buffet is satisfying - egg, bacon, breads, danish, waffles, cereal, fruit, juice, coffee/teas - but cafeteria quality. Good service from the staff! Eating at the resort - cons: it was super busy at breakfast, with the line way out the door until about 8:30 (it was the Easter weekend!) We went at 9:00, which was better. Very noisy in the restaurant. Those with little kids probably didn’t mind, as no one could hear their kids over the general cacophony. Staff were all really good. The price: we paid $390 per night (for 3 people), which we didn’t mind because we booked the room just a few days before Easter. But it was a lot to pay for a basic room. You can get a lot better than that for less, if you book at right time. A general comment about Caloundra: it’s a popular seaside town, so expect it to be full of other punters like yourself, and plenty of locals out running, biking, walking dogs, getting coffee etc. But its appeal is its beautiful beaches and water - really spectacular. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. And a fine seawater pool at Kings Beach.

My family and I have been looking forward to this Easter holiday but it did not meet our expectations. I'm not one to give negative reviews, but just can't swallow this one. On arrival at the resort, we were greeted by a dirty door and dirty outside wall, with bird droppings all over the wall outside close to the entrance door. This dropping looked old and not fresh. Then when we got in, the bath wash/soap provided was just a tiny 30ml bottle for a family of 4 for 4 nights. I phoned reception the next day to replenish, the reception lady assured me we would get it but nothing happened, she was a bit dismissive, we just found alternatives when we went out. I had to phone after 2 days for clean towels and linen too and some were dropped off. The bins in the kitchen and toilet don't have lids. The house keeping is ridiculous to say the least. PS: no house keeping was done during our stay. Not to mention the toilet that keeps dripping and making noise after flushing, we have to press the flush button again to stop the noise. I feel duped being charged $3600 for 4 nights (that's a whopping $900 per night for an apartmentthat is not maintained). I wish someone would wake me up and say it's a joke or dream. It's our 3rd night now and I have accepted that it's real. The rooms are good size, but doors are not functioning well (hard to close or open), the white wooden walls are chipping off we can see the brown wood underneath. Even tissue paper was just half a roll when we got in, we had to phone for a refill. To even have just 1 toilet and a shower for a family of 4 is nothing to write home about at that price. Curtains are so soiled you can see visible marks, and so is the couch and lounge pillows. The furniture looks good at first glance but we soon noticed the coffe table is broken at the corner and one of the dining chairs is broken and wobbly, we had to caution the kids not to use the broken ones. Clearly, the apartment is not being managed well or maybe the it's a cost-saving measure on the side of the owner. With the restaurant, breakfast is great but the same everyday so it gets boring. I have stayed in better hotels at just a fraction of the cost. I was happy to pay the price, with the hope that it would offer an excellent stay. The restaurant staff aren't bad. I honestly will never recommend this place to anyone! The positives: water park, pool, restaurant, car park right at the apartment entrance, and excellent marketing (although provides false info and impression). The place didn't provide a resort experience at all.

This is what was once the Norm Provan resort with different rooms, apartments and villas. We stayed in a Executive King hotel style room. -Unfortunately, the room isn’t serviced so if staying for a few nights you have to walk through the resort to reception and ask for new towels. -Understand that the holiday units on the coast aren’t often serviced, but when booking (on Agoda) what looks like and essentially is a hotel room, daily clean towels and milk was anticipated. We were on the ground floor of the boomerang wing and while it was nicely fitted out with a (non-requested)disabled bathroom, the open shower isn’t drained well and the shower curtain is 30cm off the floor so the bathroom was wet for our entire three night stay. The whole building wing looks like it was once intended as assisted living units, right down to being able to see where there was once a call/assist button on the lidless toilet wall. +The reception staff were welcoming. +The bed was comfortable. -The cleaning was only mediocre with sand on the floor by the entrance door. Close to the Caloundra Main Streets and restaurants. Woolworths across the road. -The hallway smells of wet carpet probably not designed for wet kids frequently being on it. At least with the season, it was only the handful of (who we presumed must be) Southern visitors using the pool. We stayed as a couple for a three night Sunshine Coast getaway May 2022, there was a convention group staying and mainly families with under school age children. With the waterpark and playground, we would avoid the place at holiday season., but great place for young families too young for the surf beaches - 30min walk north. +/-The included hot buffet breakfast was more than adequate but disappointed we had to pay full cafe prices for a decent barista coffee. Also very pleased the breakfast was included in our ($140) nightly rate as we wouldn’t have paid $23/head. -The Happy Hour at the bar was also disappointing because if there are house rules about unruly, squealing children , they’re not enforced. Children in a licensed premises and not consuming a meal is a privilege people, not a right. Would we stay again? Yes probably but wouldn’t travel so light and bring tea/coffee etc and would again look for other package specials, because at full or near full rates there are other places close by to try.
