We ate here on Friday night, and although I understand it was busy the food was abysmal. After eating here for years we've given up and will now go elsewhere for our fish and chips. It used to be possible to forgive the high prices because of the excellent quality, but it has decreased steadily recently and I'm not going to waste the money here any more.
Our calamari serving was undersized, grossly overcooked and the squid was cut so thinly that it appeared to have more crumbing than actual calamari. The piece of cod we ordered was left out of our order, and when I noticed this before leaving we were given a half piece of fish. It looks like Seafood Market have taken to cutting their fish in half to reduce costs, but hasn't reduced their prices. My father in law received the saddest cod and chips meal I think I've ever seen. All up it was a disappointing dinner none of us will be going back to repeat.
Edit in response to the owner's reply: No, the prices may not have changed but they're still consistently higher than the other fish and chip options around town. With the quality as low as it, this is no longer something a customer should have to accept.
As far as leaving a review of this nature.... it's not reasonable to expect the person who ordered a takeaway, waited nearly an hour for it, and then drove home to open such a disappointing meal that they should then have to turn around and head back to talk to the staff to have it done properly. Having read the reviews I know I'm not the first to comment on the razor thing calamari strips but the owners have evidently made no attempt to fix the issue so it appears that feedback isn't taken...
Read moreWe were in Caloundra for a weekend stay and decided to splurge on seafood so we bought oysters, prawns and lobster from the Seafood Market @ Caloundra. The prawns were quite good the oysters were mediocre at best but the 2 lobster halves were absolutely and most assuredly without a doubt the worst lobster I have ever experienced. They were expensive, dry, tough and flavourless. I went in to give them some feedback the following morning but they didnt give a damn. So sad. It could have and should have been sensational but sadly...no. Never again will I spend my hard earned there. In response to your reply. I did tell the whole story. It was a Friday evening when we purchased your seafood and the lobster we bought was not cooked fresh for us at all as you mentioned. It was already cooked, packaged and located in the refridgerated display cabinet. Furthermore nothing at all was said about it being a Qld painted lobster and as such different to a southern lobster prior to purchase. The lable on it merely stated Half Lobster and the price of $28.90. Maybe another customer got this information but it certainly was not us. As I said the prawns were good but the oysters were like I said mediocre at best. They may have been opened that very day however they were no where near the best oysters...
Read moreI went for lunch today with my Mother and Sister I had the seafood chowder and was so disappointed with what I was given. I have no idea how it can be named seafood chowder as there was not one piece of seafood in it which I thought very strange for a seafood market. however I did get about 5 small pieces of black aniseed flavoured lumps. Very expensive small bowl of thin soup. It was also heated to a point that I could not even touch it till after my family had completely finished their meals (Microwaved I suspect). Definitely wouldn’t recommend the soup. 👎
Reply: Normally I would take it back and put in a complaint in person but I had my mother out on a day trip from a nursing home and she was getting very tied by this time so I’m sorry we just didn’t have the time to wait around any longer. Could you please answer a question for me is the seafood chowder meant to have seafood in it or is meant to be just a seafood flavour? And on a safety note if that chowder was to accidentally spill on someone it would have caused serious burns I have never experienced anything served so extremely hot that it couldn’t be eaten for...
