I booked here very suddenly, due to my original hotel choice turning out awful. I booked a studio apartment online through a booking site, so there was a slight delay with check-in and for some reason it didn't take payment for the card on file, so I had to sort that out. Not really a big deal and not their a fault on their end, so it's fine. The experience was very pleasant. The receptionist who served me was friendly and welcoming, gave me the low-down on the facilities and all that, did her job well. The room itself was very comfortable-looking, clean, and a far cry from the rubbish of a hotel I had just walked away from. The only stipulations I would have - hence the 4star rating - is that it's quite dated: areas with peeled or chipped paint, changes made and hastily patched up, worn etc. The shower over bath thing was fine, but the way the faucet and taps are situated - on the side wall of the tub, rather than the same wall the shower was connected - had me hitting my shin/calf every time I stepped under the shower... I learned by my second night to watch myself, but still a pain in the butt. And lastly, the walls are very, very thin. I could hear pretty much every sound in the hall outside my room, and when waiting for the elevator down, I could hear the other guests conversations - not clearly, but enough to be uncomfortable - in close proximity to where I was standing. However, I did see that they were in the process of renovations at the time of my stay, so perhaps this will be fixed on my next visit. Honestly, all my issues could be fixed with renovations, so if I could, I'd have given a 4.5 star rating. In saying all that though, the location was peeeeerfect! Close to everything I needed for business and leisure. It was within walking distance of pretty much everything for the avid foodie, coffee or tea lover, and shopper. The view was nice, even if it was mostly buildings, and given the location, it was pretty noisy at night, but even with the window cracked a little, it didn't seem to bother my sleep. Access to the hotel was easy, with enough space for the car service to get in and out, too. Yeah. I had a really comfortable, relaxing experience there, and given that it was booked at the drop of a hat, I'd say I was pretty lucky to have it end up that way. I recommend the stay and am very likely going to book here again.

One of the cheaper options in the area so we booked with managed expectations. Lobby was small but very nice- almost like a boutique hotel, but as soon as we got to our floor, it was very different. The hallway had a weird smell- like an old building, with the lingering smell of cigarettes. Was hoping that the room would be better, since the pictures online were nice, and we booked the "executive" 2 bedroom. Unfortunately, it was underwhelming. Unit was tidy, but it looked old & dark, and also smelled of cigarettes. We chose a room with the view of Hyde Park, but the windows were dirty and some of the film were peeling, so we can't really enjoy the view. Worst part is aircon wasn't cooling. We've read reviews from others with the same experience. Those were 1-2 months past, so we thought that it would have been resolved by now, but it wasn't. We were told that they were gonna "reset" the aircon to fix it (don't know how they were gonna do that since it was a centralised ducted system). When it didn't work, we were shown another room, but it was the same. By this time, the lobby had started to smell like fish (someone cooking)- and I'm not even kidding! 3 hours after checking in, we cancelled our stay and walked to Swissotel. It was more expensive but well worth the difference. Nonetheless, thank you to Rachel of the front desk for her patience and assistance.

My stay at the hotel was overall functional, but there were a few areas that could be improved. The room itself met my needs, but the curtains lacked blackout backing, which allowed the sun to flood the space throughout the day, making it difficult to rest. Additionally, the lobby had an overwhelming fragrant, unpleasant smell that was and you could smell it even from outside the building. This odor was impossible to avoid, as it hit you each time you entered or exited the hotel. The hotel itself felt a bit old and patched together, and there were frequent problems with the elevators during my seven-day stay. At times, I had to use the staff elevators, which were located in a less secure part of the building. Lastly, the king bed was made up of two twin mattresses pushed together, causing an uncomfortable dip in the middle. On the positive side, the kitchen was very well-equipped, featuring a four-burner stove, oven, dishwasher, full-sized refrigerator, microwave, and crockery. I was especially impressed by the excellent WiFi connection throughout my stay. The view of Hyde Park from the room was nothing short of spectacular, which was one of the highlights. The rooftop pool, gym, and jacuzzi added to the experience, offering a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Despite some of the issues, these amenities made the stay more enjoyable.

The Oaks Hyde Park condo that we stayed in was terrific and absolutely made our stay in Sydney fantastic. Our room was large with a fully stocked Kitchen including a stove, Refrigerator & Dishwasher, and all the individual kitchen / cooking / dining items that anyone would expect. There was a separate large bedroom, well appointed bathroom / shower. The large living room area had a big couch and two overstuffed easy chairs. There were even two balconies that overlooked the beautiful Hyde Park which has includes the ANZAC Memorial and the German WWI SMS Emden monument. There are a number restaurants and grocery stores nearby. My Wife and I really enjoyed staying here.

We recently stayed at Oaks Sydney Hyde hotel in college street and were faced by issues including early hour construction works which we were unaware of prior to arriving which were extremely noisy in our two bedroom apartment. We were hoping to have access to the “swimming facility, gymnasium and other provided facilities” which were clearly advertised on the Oaks Sydney website and we also clarified this by visiting their website on multiple occasions but we were met by multiple signs in the lift areas saying that these were unavailable due to more construction works which was extremely misleading / false advertising. We were notified by a staff member that this information was not displayed on their website, even though it was and they were trying to mislead us. Through further communication and information provided by the staff at the reception of the hotel we were notified that the swimming / gymnasium facilities had been shut for the last 2 years. The main hallways and common pedestrian spaces near the entry to the hotel were also unclean with frequent construction work activities. When you’re charged the full stay amount, especially when there is construction works happening without knowing prior to arriving, you would at least expect some communication prior and working fan in the toilet facilities and a working reception phone. Considering the space for an apartment catering for three guests, you would expect a functional bathroom that allows for a shower without having to bend your back. Our overall stay experience with this hotel was very disappointing, even after communicating with the staff and not receiving compensation or support for the facilities let down plus apartment functionality, hence this low rating review. We would expect for a response to our review and actions taken. Thanks. Room level 9 - room 900 (13th -...
