This is a WARNING to ANYONE who plans to book a function room from the Burdekin hotel oxford st. My friend and I had the worst experience in terms of customer service (or lack of service) provided by the functions manager.
My friend was celebrating her 25th bday and the event on the night seemed to go to plan, staff on hand were quite nice and friendly but if you intend to get your bond money back afterwards, be prepared to fight really hard for it or like most people that deal with them, give up and not get it back at all.
I have heard of at least 2 other accounts of clients not getting their bond back and its an absolutely DISGUSTING way to treat your customers. Firstly you have to wait a “1 month” before they can return your bond, after countless emails with no reply we gave them a call only to be greeted by a downright rude woman, Out of respect I will not name names, she will give countless reasons as to why they were avoiding your emails.
Some of which may include:
-our email system has been hacked
-you never emailed us
-we sent you your money the other day (when she didn’t even have the bank details)
-I never said I’ll call you back by then, I don’t even work on Monday, you weren’t talking to me!
It was only after a stern and very angry phone call and mentioning “fair trading” did she finally give in and request bank details for the bond to be returned. Even if you Google “Burdekin hotel” you can see reviews of other people being in the exact same situation. If you want to be amused by this events clown and hear her routine of excuses then please book your next event at...
Read moreI recently booked the Burdekin Hotel’s basement bar to celebrate my birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. While the venue itself was pleasant, the booking process and handling of payment terms left much to be desired.
When I booked, I was provided with outdated terms stating that I would be liable for "up to 50% of the shortfall" if the minimum spend wasn’t met. However, after the event, I was told the terms had changed, holding me accountable for 100% of the shortfall instead. This inconsistency was frustrating and felt unfair.
Additionally, there was no transparency in accounting for the spending during the event. For example, purchases made at the rooftop bar after the booking were not accurately tracked, leaving me unsure if my liability was calculated correctly.
Although the management eventually reduced my liability to 50% after I raised concerns, this experience has left me feeling misled. I hope the Burdekin Hotel improves its communication, transparency, and consistency in applying terms and conditions.
I would not recommend booking here unless you’re prepared to carefully scrutinise the fine print and follow up repeatedly to ensure fair treatment.
Not recommended at all and it truly felt...
Read moreI have been going to this place since the turn of the millennium and have seen and lived through many of it transformations and reinventions. Always keeping up with the times if not ahead of them, The Burdekin has always provided punter, promoter and DJs alike with a friendly atmosphere and a vibe like few others in Sydney. This is mainly due to management and licensees hand picking bar staff and door staff which make one feel at home, as well great bar service and the best entertainment week in week out. Musically speaking, the venue has had the crème de la crème DJs play there over the last decade and also stands out from other places when considered as a function or party space. Quite simply, consistency and longevity is it's secret and thanks to two names: Tony and Anna. As long as they are there, The Burdekin will always being at the top of the list as a choice of venue and option for weekday drinking or weekend partying. Here's to many more years...
