Booking online was so easy and from the start I was hooked. The majestic look of the manor I immediately fell in love with and to see it in person was even more spectacular. Chris & Leanne the new owners and the staff could not be more accomodating to help and make us feel so welcome and comfortable. Strahan is a beautiful paradise on the west coast of Tasmania with the Manor so close within walking distance of the main street facilities. Continental breakfast was fresh and filling with the fresh danish every morning as an extra bonus. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with the option of heating if you wish to travel in winter. all sitting rooms are comfortable with open fireplaces which makes it even more attractive especially for those cold nights and the view out the big bay windows of the back verandah into the garden with the huge pine trees is so calming. Without a doubt, Franklin Manor exceeded all my expectations and more of a grand old lady over...
Read moreRoom was great, bed was comfy, parking good, and the complimentary breakfast was good. The service from reception, bar, breakfast and room servicing was good (and a lot of the people have multiple roles!). We stayed for 2 nights and arrived late on the first night having taken a long time to drive from Hobart. Too many interesting stops in beautiful rainforest along the way. They say there are 99 bends in the road between Queenstown and Strahan, but on this drive I think we did many many more!||Franklin Manor is a bit out of town (like 600m) which doesn’t sound much unless it’s raining hard ( which it was for us). Recommendations were given as to where to eat but to be honest only 1 or 2 are reasonable quality, if not very pricey for what you get. We found there’s not too much to do in Strahan if you are not on the boat trip, but the falls right next to Franklin Manor was a...
Read moreThis was our second stay at Franklin Manor although the first was many years ago. It is a beautiful stately home converted into a boutique style hotel. There are two public sitting rooms to relax in. Our hosts, although on temporary placement were very welcoming and keen to share the story about the manor. Our room was on the small side, the bed was comfy and the bathroom could do with a refurb. Some of the interior decor in the public spaces doesn’t match the era of the house which is a bit of a shame. The inclusion of a hot breakfast would be a welcome plus a self service continental breakfast so you can choose what you want rather than being served one platter per couple. The morning coffee was very good. The house is a short and scenic walk to the harbour and is worth doing to avoid parking costs if going on a Gordon River cruise or the West Coast...
