My husband and I made a booking here for the 1st Jan-5th Jan 2022, to attend the funeral of a loved family member. Upon check-in we were greeted by the receptionist and caretaker, the receptionist ripped the mask off my face and told me "we don't do that bullsh@t here". Shocked but still prepared to continue with our booking intending to keep well away from everyone we checked in. The room and facilites were adequate and as we only needed the room for a bed we thought it would be fine, we were very wrong. We left the motel to meet up with family and returned at approximately 9.30pm, as we made our way to our room I was pushed out of the way by the drunken caretaker who said he was going to "punch some c@#t's head in". There was a violent brawl out front of our room between the caretaker and another guest. After it ended we made our way to bed, I barricaded the door (this was an error on my judgement, we should have just left then and there but as I am currently 5 months pregnant I was tired after an emotional and exhausting day). Needless to say I did not sleep terribly well, I spent the night researching Queensland and Australian consumer law to make sure we were entitled to a refund of the unused nights, which we were because the motel failed to provide and safe and secure venue as reasonably expected. The morning of 2nd I spoke to the receptionist and told her we would not be staying another night, after much umming and ahhing she agreed to the refund, she processed it and made a great show of signing the "refund" part of the receipt while covering the bottom half of it. After a week of the refund not returning to our bank account I looked at the slip again and she has manually declined the refund. My fault for not checking but after an incredibly emotional and exhausting trip I thought we would looked after but I was wrong. We are now going through our bank's fraud team to secure our...
Read moreNot your average 'hostel'. Laid back atmosphere and quiet. Most people seem to be here long term and keep to themselves or to small groups. Has an outdoor area, but this is where people also smoke so if you aren't a smoker or fond of being around smoke I would suggest that you don't stay here. There isn't another area to sit if you'd like to eat outdoors other than a very small table and folding chairs next to the kitchen (some people also smoke here too though). Staff were helpful and there is plenty of pamphlets for the exploring tourist if you aren't staying here, but need some information or assistance, I am sure the staff would be happy to help. Whilst I have only given the room 3 stars, it was exactly what I expected it to be. Each room appears to have their own fridge and cupboard space, it was clean and the bed was average. The floors look like they could do with a good...
Read moreWith an early morning barge crossing to Fraser Island we decided last minute to travel up from the Gold Coast the day before & grab some budget accommodation for the night. ||What a huge mistake. This place was awful, the rooms were dirty, certainly hadn't been cleaned properly & just had a general musty, grubbiness about it.||Grabbed a couple of glasses from the communal kitchen so we could have a drink of wine to help us forget. They had to be de-sanitised prior to use.||Slept in our cloths to avoid as much contact as possible.||My son found a false fingernail in his bed in the morning & it wasn't his.||I have never left a place so early in the morning, just couldn't wait to get away.||That's after tiptoeing over the vomit that the other residents had left from the previous nights drinking.||Aviod,...
