Dined for a late lunch on the 03-01-2021. The cafe was not busy when we arrived. The waitress asked what we would like to drink as soon as we sat down, so I had to ask her to come back in a couple of minutes when we had read the drinks menu. It took her over 5 minutes to come back to take our orders. We ordered the jalapeño poppers ($9), nacho’s($17.50), and 3 tacos for $22.5 and of these I chose the pork, the fish, and the mixed scallop and prawn options. My partner and I waited 25 minutes for the jalapeño poppers to arrive. When ‘they’ came out it was only 2 poppers, which is atrocious value for money. The poppers batter and flavor was average at best and would not recommend. We then waited another 5-10 minutes for our plates to clear and for our mains to be served. The soft shell tacos were stale around the edges, and I couldn't tell whether there was also a fleeting attempt to crisp them entirely in a pan to try and disguise this or ? The volume of meat contents in the two seafood tacos compared with the pork taco were ludicrous. Don't waste your money ordering seafood tacos from this place. The pulled pork taco had delicious flavour, despite the stale taco, and had an adequate serving of meat. The only nachos on the menu came with a pineapple salsa. Personally thats not my idea of a nacho's, but there were no traditional salsa options, so we gave it a try. These nachos tasted candy sweet due to the pineapple, were far too bland, greasy and lacked adequate avocado to save them. The bottom layer of chips were soggy from being drenched in fats/ oils. If you ran a Mexican restaurant of this quality in any major city, you'd be running to job keeper. Much room for improvements. I hope this helps people, fake google reviews have become an...
Read moreWe have previously dined at Tres Salsas (in October 2021) and loved the service of the attentive waitress assigned to our table, the quick delivery of meals and the delicious food so much that we returned last night (25th September 2022) to repeat the experience. Unfortunately our second dining experience at Tres Salsas was anything but enjoyable. We understand that the kitchen was under the pump (I’m guessing due to being understaffed), but there were quite a few things that stood out to us in comparison to our previous experience:
food taking 40+ minutes to get to our table, without any indication from the waitstaff serving us that it would take this long (my 1 year old son was with us so it would have been nice to be notified so we could have the choice of cancelling our order and leaving earlier)
having to repeatedly request for water to be brought to our table; at one point we even had to go up to the bar to ask even though there were waitstaff moving around the dining area
our food being of such disappointing quality. Everyone in our table who ordered the nachos couldn’t taste anything apart from the pineapple habanero sauce which had been slathered all over the tortilla chips and completely...
Read moreWe came here after a long day touring K’gari to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but unfortunately left feeling disappointed and out of pocket.
We ordered the watermelon margaritas, but they were completely undrinkable — sickly sweet and extremely artificial tasting. We told the waitress they weren’t nice, and she took them away almost full. We ordered original margaritas instead, which were much better. We didn’t ask for the first round to be taken off the bill, but given they were clearly untouched and removed, we were surprised to still be charged for them.
We also ordered the pulled pork and chicken tacos, which were both a letdown. They were totally flavourless, and the chicken had a weird, minced texture that felt processed — like it came that way out of a bag. Neither the chicken nor the pork was properly warm. The only thing we actually liked were the fries.
The whole meal came to $130, which felt like a lot — especially considering we ordered four drinks, only drank two, and the others were taken away. If the food had been good, I wouldn’t have minded swallowing the cost. But honestly, it was the worst Mexican...
