I'd rather write positive things and wasn't going to say anything, but as I have been invited by the people running this business to review our stay, I will. In their letter that was pushed under the door on our last day it states "Your feedback is important to us!" We have travelled extensively during the last 20 years, and have stayed at many nice places. We only stay at 4/5 star. It looked fabulous on the internet, but that's where the honeymoon ends. This place is without any doubt the worst place we have ever stayed at. It is mostly due to the lack of maintenence and the very poor attitude of the reception staff if you have any problems. They are "reactive" to any of your concerns, rather than being proactive. Rather than checking things as the rooms are turned over, they wait for the complaints - but get aggressive like they did with us by offering to refund us and to find other accommodation because we had some issues. It's probably because most people just stay for a day or 2 and put up with the problems. We stayed 7 nights and the main 2 problems were the light entering the rooms at night (due to poorly fitted, cheap window treatments) and the "energy saving" air-conditioning controllers. We are from the south and not used to the humidity and usually sleep with an A/C at 22 degrees. However, the "energy saving" remotes couldn't be adjusted below 23 degrees and the fan speed is controlled at the lowest speed. Other problems include the sink in the ensuite filling up when the plug is out. Loose toilet seat that couldn't be adjusted. Infestations of cockroaches and silverfish. Cheap rubbish 32cm "Hisense" TV's in the bedrooms. The TV remotes didn't work very well either as the batteries probably needed changing (but too scared to dare ask for replacements). The ceiling fans need cleaning and the one above the dining table is permanently on (electrical fault). The smoke alarm went off midway through our time here (another battery required) so we removed it and put it in the boot of our car - then replaced it upon leaving. When we arrived the shower head in the second bathroom was held up with sticky bandage - but was reluctantly fixed when we mentioned it. The safe was locked. The flouro light in the kitchen flickers and needs replacing. Their maintenence man has a poor attitude, as does the receptionist. To cap it off, if you do choose to stay here, don't select the beachfront rooms as you will have the sun blasting directly into your rooms for 2-3 hours in the morning and the see-through blinds offer little resistance, and only have a room on the top floor or you will have to put up with the noise from people above you. The noise from the crashing waves is substantial at times throughout the night - so something to consider if you are a light sleeper. Entry to our room is by an old and loose (needing replacement) keyed lock - and even the key was bent. Doors squeak, the driveway is very steep (too dangerous to walk down if it's been raining), or you could do the 70 or so steps at the rear of the property - but not safely before the sun gets up as the top half has no lighting. "They" said they've been running this property for over 6 years and have never had any complaints. Well, maybe it's time to start listening to your guests and do some...
Read moreWe stayed at Bellevue a few weeks ago for my birthday. I'd booked directly with Laura a few months before our stay. She seemed pleasant in our dealings. When we checked in, we found the apartment (no.10) to be very spacious with a great view of the ocean. Unfortunately, the standard of cleaning was disappointing. Most surfaces needed wiping properly, including a fake plant in the main living area that was covered in dust, and there were stains on some of the decorative cushions (I took pics of the plant and soiled cushions). Our kids had settled in quickly after our long journey, so I chose to hide the crusty pillows and wipe the surfaces myself. (Throughout our stay we came across other poorly cleaned items including stained bed blankets, dusty aircons and dirty dishes in the cupboard).|On our first night about 9:30pm when getting ready for bed, we found that we could only lock one of the three patio doors. The sliding door could be locked without a key, but the two swing doors needed a key, which we were not provided with. I called the after hours reception number and spoke to Laura to ask how we lock the doors. She seemed shocked as to why we were questioning why the doors didn't lock, and asked whether I was worried about anyone getting in, and why we would want to lock the doors as we were on the second level. She said that "no one had ever had a problem or mentioned it", and it's apparently "very safe". When I explained that, while yes, someone getting into our apartment is a concern, it's for peace of mind as we had our kids with us. Laura said "It's late, I'm tired, what do you want me to do?". Her attitude was disappointing. I mean, the doors have key locks on them, why not provide guests with the key??|We were able to enjoy the view, the pool and being so close to the beach. We liked that the apartment was spacious, but overall it was quite expensive for such poor presentation. The whole apartment just needs a decent clean, which I mentioned upon checking out. All in all, yes the view from an ocean room is great, but you can get better value for money and better standards and...
Read moreMy wife and I spent about 2 full weeks here at the Bellevue for our honeymoon. When we arrived we were welcomed with by the owners with big cheerful smiles. Our rooms were not ready yet due to us arriving early than we expected. They had us leave our bars and recommended us to one of the local restaurants next door to grab food and a drink. Shortly after the owner personally stopped by and gave us the keys. The room was on the the 3rd floor which made for some great views and sun rises. I should really call it a house due to it having 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, living room, laundry, and all that was needed to live there permanently if wanted. The next morning we went down to the office and the owner gave us a number of great excursions for us to do. They were very good at picking out the good ones. They also recommend many fantastic restaurants that were in the local area. On our last day we had a late flight so the owners allowed us to stay a few hours past our check out time. We were going to take a uber to the airport, but since they were heading past it they offered to give us a ride instead which saved us a bunch. We were so grateful the ride. All in all we highly recommend staying at their establishment. It was a stay we will never forget and hope to make it back...
