I really enjoyed the view from their restaurant while waiting for my order I waited more than 50minutes. Thankfully, the food was delicious I ordered Pad Thai Beef and 4 steamed rice and milk-tea and wintermelon for takeaway.

However, the service and communication were quite disappointing. It felt like the staff didn’t care much. They would just look at you from the side when you tried to ask something. When I asked one guy how long it would take, he said “10 minutes.” After I came back to the counter, he said again, “It’s not getting longer.” Then I asked another lady, and she gave me the same answer, “It’s not getting longer.” Finally, the one who took my order just said, “Sorry, we’re busy.”

What’s even more frustrating is that some walk-in customers who ordered after me got their takeaway orders earlier. Mine was just Pad Thai Beef and 4 steamed rice basically just scooping rice and preparing noodles yet it took so long.

Come on it’s a holiday, so it’s expected to be busy, and that’s why you have a 15% surcharge during holidays, right? All I wanted was some proper communication or updates about my order. The food was great, but the staff really need more training on service and customer...

Worst meal we had during our holiday (and we only had a few nights up in Cairns) - just don't bother.

Entrees seemed like they'd been reheated in an oven - coconut prawns so dry that they were almost inedible.

We asked for our food to be spicy - if there was any chilies in anything we ate we must have missed it completely - everything was so bland. Tamarind Prawns main we had (apparently a specialty) had super large prawns, but they weren't fresh at all which ruined what might have been an OK main. Other main, garlic + pepper seafood so bland there must have been a garlic shortage we were unaware of.

Also, awful fly infestation there made it quite unpleasant to eat (nearly all tables are outdoors, inside section very small) - actually had 2 x flies dive bomb into my beer + drown when I'd only drunk half of it.

Complained afterwards to waiter - they gave us 10% off which still meant the undeservedly overpriced meal was still expensive + didn't seem to take any criticism on board or explain why food wasn't spicy as we'd asked.

Strongly suspect their high * rating here was work of fake review farm - can't possibly see how people thought this place was good..

Obviously we...

We stopped going here a while ago as the food declined a lot, but, being a beautiful evening in the tropics, we thought we'd return and try again. There's a new menu to last time! Lots of people around, you really had to book to get a table. We always sit outside with the ocean in the background. Food was delicious! The sauces were the key. The dumplings was full of flavour, the pork was not overly sweet but delicious and the curry had the right amount of heat for your mouth. The duck fried rice was on its own super tasty. Only fault...our food came out in an odd order so we found we had to wait for the rice and in fact remind them of it, while our other dishes were on the table. Not much of a problem as we had a glass of wine and caught up on the week and the wait was not excessive. There were a lot of take away orders happening also so staff were super busy. Overall, we were delighted with the food and the experience and will put this old fave back on the regular...

Having Ceoliac Disease I am always incredibly wary of eating out. I saw the staff at Tuk Tuk and they assured me they were happy to cater to us. I advised the team we would have between 3-9 people eating for lunch. Again this was not an issue. When we arrived the staff were so attentive and friendly. They suggested the rest of the group try LUFY (let us feed you), which we ordered for 4 people. I personally ordered the duck fried rice with chinese sausage. My meal was nothing short of delectable, a true unbutton your pants moment because my belly was so big. The LUFY was nothing short of astonishing, plate after plate arrived. My mother who was lunching with us has travelled the world and said it is one of the best meals she ever had. Thank you so much for taking care of us, for making my dietary requirements a non issue, and for being so incredibly friendly. If you are anywhere near Cairns let alone the Northern Beaches make sure this is on your to do list.

Tuk Tuk by the sea was a great dining experience for my partner and me. The Chilli Dumplings were fantastic, tasting like they were made fresh with high-quality ingredients. The Beef Penang was a hit with my partner, who loved the level of heat in the dish. The Fish Choo Chi was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. That sauce was simply divine! I’d be so grateful if I could get the recipe; I doubt I’ll ever find another dish with such amazing flavours. The Roti and Satay sauce, made entirely from scratch, was a delicious explosion of flavours, all enjoyed with the stunning backdrop of a tropical beach. The restaurant’s ambience was delightful, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. To my surprise, the chef personally enquired about my meal, a first for me. We were thoroughly impressed by this restaurant and would enthusiastically recommend it to anyone in Cairns. We plan to visit again and again!
