As for the 4.5 star rating, I'm not sure when that was given but certainly not while i was staying there. Stayed over the 2017/2018 new year period on a powered site. The park was overbooked and as a result, first evening of our stay, campers were allocated a grassed area at the back of our site. Not a major problem until the people that were allocated the grassed area, pulled our power cords out and tried to kick us out of our site stating that they had just been given our site and produced a map of the park from the office that had an extra square hand written at the rear of our site. It got sorted and the campers were incorrect with their claims. Not a good start.
If you like Corella's (small and extremely noisy cockatoo's), this is the place for you. Big flocks fly over at first light (5am ish). If you can sleep through it, not much will wake you. Earplugs were a must.
Amenities block!!! Putrid!!! They are not cleaned enough. If you get in there straight after the cleaners your fine. Out side of that the public toilets in town are cleaner.
Camp Kitchen!! bring your matches and own toaster. Gas stove doesn't lite from the starter. Toaster doesn't work. Little black flies are terrible.
People who are allowed to stay there!!!!! While I was there, There was a drunk Aboriginal Male who appeared homeless hanging around the park and more so the camp kitchen (laying on the floor etc) Manager was contacted about it. Was told "Yeah. He stays there for $10 a night and pays each day. He just cant handle his alcohol." To top top it off, the next night at 11.15pm in the pouring rain he was caught by myself skulking around my camper and other van's. when confronted he ran away. The question is raised, Where does he get his money and alcohol? Reported this to the desk and was informed that he would be removed from the park. As a result we packed up early and left the park. Staff did give us a refund for the additional nights we had booked.
On a positive, the grounds were nice and the surrounding areas and activities in those areas were very good day trips.
I try to give everyone a fare go however this was to date the worst place i have stayed...
Read moreA beautiful caravan park location on the river. Lots of nicely grassed and shaded campsites to the area left of the office. To the right the spots have a lot more dirt and less grass. Yes there is a bit of truck noise at times but meh its not that bad at all and it quietens down at night as expected. Either way I would suggest avoiding the sites up near the road. There are lots!! of trees and one review commented on low branches on roadways, yes there are some and yes management could prune just the branches that hang a bit low on the tracks but they are also fairly easy to dodge around where you need to as you drive through the park. Weekends and holidays you will probably get some bigger groups all camping together. We had a few but they were no problem and generally considerate at night with their noise. Watch out if parking under one of the Black Walnut trees, they have a hard fruit that looks a bit like a lime, you may end up with some bombing on your roof as they randomly fall, I saw some parrots biting them off. The amenities were maintained and cleaned well, no issues there at all. There was a lack of any obvious grounds maintenance activity whilst we stayed. This was good in some ways as it made for a tranquil atmosphere. The grass had been cut but there is an enormous amount of leaf litter build up particularly in a few spots and accumulating on paths. The river front sites were nice and hot property. Due to the amount of occupancy they get and shading these have a lot of dirt and less grass than other camp sites in the park. Book ahead if you are planning on stopping over a weekend and want a river front site, be clear about your van size as some were small, but there are heaps of larger sites that are not river front. The ones that backed onto the Western fence line were nice particularly the ones back from the road. Mid week outside of holidays I expect a few river front sites would be available at...
Read moreFirst of all the caravan park's location is lovely. On arrival I noticed that there was no hairdryer in our DELUXE cabin. After speaking with the manager he loaned me a hairdryer, he said that none had a hairdryer. I found that odd. When walking into the bathroom we noticed someone else's used green bar of soap in our shower caddy. I mentioned this to two staff members over two consecutive days but nothing was done about it. In the end I put the offending item, which also had caked on residue soap in a yellow colour on the other level in a plastic bag and deposited It on the reception's counter. YUCK! They did not blink an eyelid. I also mentioned that the sliding door looked like it had been cleaned with a fatty rag as we could not see through it when the sun was on it. The floor had long blond hairs from a previous owner on it and the couch had someone else's crumbs on it. All of these complaints were not acted on by the staff. At any time this is gross but especially during these Covid times you'd expect the units to be cleaned thoroughly. People either side of us agreed that the units were NOT clean. I gave it three stars because of the size of the unit and the location but please get your cleaning of the units in order!!!......and give a damn! Cleanliness deserves zero stars!!! Staff apathy and consideration also deserve zero stars!!
I'M GOBSMACKED!! The manager's response stating that he offered to have it cleaned again is a complete and total lie. Unbelievable. I would have welcomed that with open arms. Shame on you for...
