While I enjoyed my experience here for the most part there are some significant issues that I had with my stay. I stayed here in early January 2024.
While the staff was excellent, for the most part, there was a significant issue that left a bad taste in my mouth for this hotel and completely ruins my view of the staff.
On one of the evenings, I asked the staff what was involved with booking the hot tub. To which they simply said let them know what the time was and that they would need 2 hours to prepare.
So I left them know I would like to use it that evening. Additionally in the interaction, they asked if we would like any food or anything and I said no because I would not like to pay anything.
So the time comes and we head outside, the tub is currently covered up, no issues. Head back inside let the staff know and they come out and remove the cover. Unfortunately the tub is almost boiling, completely unusable so we wait for about 5 to 10 minutes in sub freezing temperatures for the staff to shovel enough snow into the hot tub. And me and my buddy are also helping carry the bucket from the ice broken pool and dumping snow, ice chunks and water into the hot tub.
And this is all fine, I did not have any issues with this. They even brought out a little complimentary tray of fruit, as an apology I believe.
What I do have an issue with, is that when I asked for information concerning the hot tub, there was no price disclosed.
When the wife went to check out of the hotel, they let know that we have to pay the restaurant bill. Okay no issues, and then they ambush us with a 70 euro charge to utilize the hot tub.
How was this not disclosed prior to booking the hot tub? I literally asked for details concerning the hot tub and the staff did not disclose the price.
Unfortunately I was not there because while she disputed that price, the staff simply said sorry and there was nothing they could do.
If I was there, you can choose to have the restaurant paid or I can choose to leave. Because in my mind this is completely fraudulent. It is unacceptable to not have had the staff member inform of the price and simply imply that the hot tub is in an amenity included in the hotel, much the same way as the pool is.
It is also laughable that the hot tub was not at all ready and to expect this to be a paid service at a high charge of 70 euros when the party has to stand outside for 10 minutes in freezing temperatures as the tub is made ready past the time it was scheduled.
My party and I would have likely came back next year as we had a great time in this region, but for reasons like this it really makes you question what else they charge for that is not advertised.
More disrespectful is the fact that they simply could not chalk this up to a mistake on their part. There was two staff members there when I inquired about the hot tub and neither one mentioned the price. Considering the poor service and the fact that they were unwilling to make it right I cannot recommend this hotel on that basis. It's one thing to have poor service, it's another thing to have such poor service that you are effectively lying to guests and an unwillingness to make it right.
Outside of this issue, I thought the beds were quite mediocre and it is extremely disappointing that there was no kettle inside of the room. The staff also could not provide a kettle. The gym was excellent, and the sauna was decent although both...
Read moreWe had booked a table after seeing a wide choice of nice dishes on the menu outside. After arrival they gave us a not so great looking menu (standard for the hotel guests to choose from w/o pricing) instead. We didn't really want this menu as it was our evening out. We just choose a wienerschnitzel, which was also an option, to be on the safe side as we already got a funny feeling. The main waiter told us to go ahead and use the salad bar of the hotel (limited choice and nothing was great. Just the standard stuff) as the schnitzel would arrive soon. So we did. He however didn't mention he would charge us €6 each seperately afterwards. Also did he offer ketchup/mayo to go with the chips but again forgot to mention that for each portion he'd charge us and serve more than needed. The children he served large drinks to start with wo giving any choice (we only found out when another waiter came for a 2nd drink and he gave us the option). Everyting with this man was "lekkel" and he acted as if he was "easy going and thinking about our well being". The same with the desserts which again only came from the hotel guests buffet (not very good). The evening was nice anyway, the food was doable (quite dry), but definately not rememberable and I wouldn't recommend eating here as it's not worth the money. This guy (owner or senior) obviously tried to make some easy money on us. We didn't leave with a good feeling at all. Not a very clever move to treat customers like this in my opinion. I'd advise you to go to a real restaurant and get what...
