Overall this is a really good choice for Kufstein and we will return to the hotel on future trips.||Located right in the city center, the hotel is a short walk away from attractions, dining, shopping, etc and easy to walk to from the train station as well.||It is attached to a public parking garage and not difficult to drive to. One issue we had on our stay was that we paid for the parking at checkout but the card was not properly validated, which meant we had to go back inside and to the front desk to have it validated as it should have been. This annoyed the car behind us leavving the garage (who had to reverse to allow us to reverse out of the exit and pull over to send someone in) and cost us about 10 minutes on an already busy morning. Not a huge problem, but less than ideal--hopefully this was a one off.||||The rooms are very comfortable with good bedding and laid out well to provide space to work, eat, etc. Wifi works well and is fast.||||One issue we ran into which is not likely to apply to many people but seems worth noting: My husband had booked a double room (as he always does, even travelling solo, he is tall and needs the larger bed). I joined him only for the last night. The per person added supplment for that one night for me was MUCH higher than it had been in the past, than emails indicated and that is normal for hotels in Europe in our experience---an adidtional 80% above the cost of the same double room for one--this is without breakfast--just for sleeping/showering there! 25% is much more normal (above a double room for single occuancy rate, if there is a differene at all when a double is booked)||When we were taken aback by the pricing being THAT high (well beyond the normal added second person rates we've seen. even at this hotel in the past) and tried to ask about it the manager came out and assumed, based on our American accents, that we simply did not understand that European hotels are priced per person, rather than as double occupancy. OK. They probably get that a lot. No problem that she started there. However, no matter how many times we tried to explain the actual problem, or that we live in Europe and travel here 150-200 nights per year, etc--she interupted before we could get even one sentence out of our mouths and kept going back to "You don't understand because you're American." Over and over. I haven't even lived in the USA for well over a decade and checked in with my German ID, this conversation was in German---but the manager continually made assumptions about my experience and refused to listenn to me based on her perceptions of my accent. I found this very frustrating and hope that management will reflect on this and learn from my review and not jump to conclusions in the future (for our part, we'll get the exact total cost very explicity in writing before making a resevration with a second person in future, and if the rate continues to increase by so muh stay elsewhere--but I assume it was a one off as, again, we have staeyed at the Arte in the past wihout issue and generally find it the best hotel in the area...
Read moreMajor disappointment – 4 stars only on paper!!!
We stayed at arte Hotel Kufstein from May 30 to June 1, and I must say this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had – especially from a property advertising itself as a 4-star hotel.
Right from the start, the hotel tried to charge an additional pet fee for two days, even though our reservation clearly stated the pet was included in the price. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of a series of unpleasant surprises.
Air conditioning was unavailable – despite being advertised in every room. Temperatures hit 30°C outside, and our room was 26°C. When I asked about it, staff openly admitted that management is aware but the system is only turned on starting June 2 – a blatant case of misleading advertising and failure to meet promised standards.
Staff were uninterested, cold, and unhelpful. They brushed off every issue I raised – broken shutters (which they already knew about), dirty floors and windows, missing hair dryer – with no intention of solving anything. One receptionist even told me, "Yes, management knows. But we can’t do anything."
Breakfast was a disaster. A poor selection (mostly eggs, some cheese, and bread), unstocked buffet, visibly overwhelmed and sweaty staff who were snappy and visibly frustrated. For €535 for 2 nights including breakfast and parking, I expected a basic level of quality and service – which we absolutely did not receive.
Additional issues:
We were not informed about the Kufsteinerland Card, a wonderful city benefit that includes free entry to the Fortress and a chairlift ride. We learned about it only from the staff at the fortress. We did receive the card at the hotel, but only after explicitly demanding it, and much too late to make the most of it. A hotel of this category should promote such a guest-friendly perk proactively.
No welcome water, no clear instructions for emergencies or late-night issues (reception is closed after 10 PM, with no alternative contact or guidance given).
The room lacked attention to cleanliness and detail.
At check-out, I voiced my complaints and was offered either a deduction of one breakfast or free parking – a gesture that felt more like an insult than a resolution.
This hotel does not live up to its 4-star rating or its pricing. I absolutely do not recommend it and will...
Was tun?
