Firstly, I'll be honest. I am holding a grudge against the Management and Bar staff, ONLY for this review.||The hotel itself, is actually quite pleasant. It's clean, modern, located in a prime area of Mayrhofen and is a popular destination for locals, tourists and travellers. I could not find any fault with the rooms. The beds were comfy, really big tv, and an Absolutely fantastic shower, which were all cleaned daily. ||Great service from the cleaners and we were happy to leave a room tip.||||However, disaster on arrival. We were NOT presented with a nice welcome, or much in any other way of a greeting by Mike the Manager/owner, local black cloud. ||We were barked at to SIGN!! The arrival sheet. And I do mean barked at along with furious pointing of a slip of paper, all written in German (I like to have a go at languages, but I'm no expert) so we struggled a little, which seemed to annoy Mike further.||Once we had overcome that issue, we were pointed in the general direction of the rooms and basically dismissed! Wow. ||||This was the start of a frosty week with Mike, who must of took an instant dislike to our group, as he did not warm up a single degree, all the week we were there. ||Always harsh, always frowning. ||||People skills seemed to have ran around Mike like dodging Covid! This is a bit unusual in the main point of contact we have for the hotel we are staying in?.||||But the main cause for unpleasantness, was a Mid-week theft of personal belongings. ||The staff seemed to have forgotten we were guests that week, (probably because we avoided the bar area a lot, due to Miserable Mike). ||So one evening when we did venture in for a few drinks, I happend to leave my coat, drapped over the chair next to me. My friend and brother were seated opposite, so when I took a call and left the bar, I knew things were ok. However the sneaky Barstaff girl (Irish accent, did not catch her name) managed to slip the coat and, later said that she had passed it to another group of lads, also Irish (hence she remembered them?) as she said she thought it was theirs. ||||This story developed holes, when we were later questioning the location of the coat and lads. ||She assured us that she knew the lads and would get the coat back. But strangely, we saw no group of these lads, entering the hotel from our first floor balcony all night, and as if by magic, at 1 minute past her finish time, 00:01am, my coat found its way to hang on my door, and the barstaff girl doing a runner as fast as she could away, down the stairs and out the door. ||Could it be that my coat was hiding in the back all night, just waiting to reappear? Funny how, when we were promissed the cctv the night before, this was now refused by Mike, as the property was returned?! ||Strangely the barstaff girl did not linger in my pressence or even look at me for the last 2 days of our stay there...||||So, Frosty Mike with all the kind personality of a prison warden, and his merry band of barstaff thieves, (Yes we believe there is a bit of a racket going off here) made our first trip to Mayrhofen a little disappointing. ||||+5 stars to the building itself, the breakfast chef, the cleaners and the location. If you can book a week when the management go on holiday to run Shawshank, you'll have a great time||||-5 to the hostile reception, general atmosphere of the staff towards us and a night of genuine disappointment and anger towards having my property stolen, but then returned. ||Wont be going back. ||Thanks for reading, sorry...
Read moreThis is the best ski hotel we've ever stayed in.||The rooms are really stylish, comfortable and clean. They have a real boutique feeling about them. Great decor, large bed, a sofa, excellent wardrobe space and a huge TV. The bathroom is wonderful too and the shower is great. The details in the decoration throughout the hotel is great, combining presentation of the former old building with really stylish modern details. We would have been happy to have stayed in this hotel for any holiday, but for a ski holiday, where we tend to have a “bed and shower” mentality, it was exceptional.||The rooms were kept very clean, as was the entire hotel. ||The ski and boot room is also the best we’ve seen with every room having its own specific storage area so no digging your skis out from behind others.||The breakfast was very good. We tended to go in the last 30 mins but it never felt “picked over” and would freshly boil more eggs if there were none left. The kitchen also made us a packed lunch for the journey home and, for once, we ate it all, especially appreciating the donuts after an early start.||On the ground floor of the hotel is Mike’s Sports Bar, Mike being the owner of the hotel. Despite being very popular, no noise travelled up to our rooms. In fact, later in the evening, the door between the bar and hotel was locked, which meant we had to walk outside to get to our rooms, but also protected us even more from bar noise.||The bar showed lots of sport and one evening, when there were lots of possible Premiership games to choose from, Mike had the different rooms of the bar labelled with which match was being shown. On another evening, we requested the darts and Mike put it on for us. Very accommodating. The bar staff were very chatty and welcoming and, like the rest of the hotel, it was kept very clean, including the toilets.||Our evening meals weren’t taken in the hotel, but in a neighbouring hotel on the other side of the road. The food was of an exceptionally high quality, which added to our love of our stay at our hotel. On our first evening, we arrived about 45 mins after the fellow hotel’s dining room closed, but Mike phoned them and arranged for us to go for dinner, as long as we went immediately. He even delayed the normal check in procedure so we could go to dinner. Again, very accommodating.||The location of the hotel is also perfect. The ski bus to the Mayrhofen gondolas is outside the hotel door. It is also under a 10 minute walk to both the free coach to the Hintertux Glacier and the free train along the valley to the Kaltenbach area. It was also about 5 mins to the main street.||We loved this hotel and would highly recommend it. It is an...
Read moreWe spent one week in the hotel. We booked a room for three people, asked for three separate beds. One bed was a king size, one single bed and the third bed was a pull out with a ripped mattress. We all payed the same price to stay in the room. Who was getting a pullout and who would sleep in a king size bed?? The room was an average size, but the addition of the third bed made it too small and impossible to move around. The light in the hallway had one switch for the hallway, toilet room and a separate shower room. The hallway light was lighting up the single bed, so that every time you went to the toilet or to wash your hands you had to have light on the person on the single bed. There were not enough electrical outlets in the room. You had one outlet by the bed where there was a lamp plugged in, so if you wanted to charge your phone you could not have the light on. The bathroom was very dark and outdated but looked cleaned every day after we came back from skiing. The breakfast meal was standard and basic. We were at the hotel for one week and all other people in the breakfast room were there for one week as well. The breakfast was exactly the same for the whole week. There were scrambled eggs and boiled egg, cold cuts and cheese. The fresh fruit was apples every day. Why not change apples to bananas and oranges, or pears, or whatever else is affordable. Why not add bacon one day or hash browns? After 3-4 days the breakfast was very boring. The owner Mike was helpful and approachable. The best part of the hotel is its location - ski bus stops right in...
