We, a group of 6 (two teenagers), were all happy with our week long stay at Adler and will definitely consider staying here again. Location is great, although it requires a little up-hill walking. The hotel is modern, the spa is very nice, the bar and restaurant have a pleasant atmosphere, the ski lockers are convenient. Lobby staff friendly and helpful. The provided slippers are slippery (no pun intended) in the wet spots of the spa area. Staff was rarely seen in the spa area, and rules on clothing didn't seem to be enforced (ppl wearing swimsuit in the "nude spa" section, and men wearing nude in the non-nude section, which can be uncomfortable for some ppl and not appropriate for kids. The apartment: Positive: We stayed in a 6 person unit with 2 bedrooms and a double bed in the living room. All the beds are great with supportive mattresses. Pillows could be firmer (or a choice between firm/soft). Styling was modern and smart. Spacious drawers with hangars and shelfs. A flat screen in every room, convenient for privacy. Two bathrooms with showers. Two WC's. Four sinks. Plenty for all. On the negative side: The living/dining/kitchen area was too small for an apartment for 6 persons. The kitchen only had a small stove for 2 pots, which only fit one pan and a small pot. The working area beside it was very small. This made it difficult and frustrating to cook in the apartment. The non-stick pan was small and worn (meaning it was sticky), the knifes were not thin and sharp, so cutting vegetables wasn't smooth. There was no spatula (only a flat plastic pizza spade, not suitable for cooking meat, eggs, bacon, chicken etc.). No toaster for your bread. The poorly equipped kitchen was the biggest disappointment with the apartment, and not at all in line with the description on Adler's website. Due to this we only cooked twice in the apartment. Trash bin in the bathroom didn't work (stepping on the opener). Lighting was poor in the living/dining area, only one bright light in the ceiling for the whole room, no dimmable light, no cozy pendant light above the table, no floor lamp or table lamp. This is not in line with the standards of a luxury hotel, and should be improved. All in all we would give Adler a 4,5 star rating, but Google doesn't give the option, so we are forced to give a 4 star rating. Small adjustments, addressing the points mentioned, will bring Adler to a 5...
Read moreWe had a family holiday this summer at Adler Resort. It is very family friendly, which should also be read as perhaps not ideal for couples during school holiday time as there are kids everywhere!. We had a huge two bedroom suite which was excellent with spectacular views, comfortable beds, very pleasant bathrooms (3 of them!), and it was cleaned perfectly every day. We chose to have the All-Inclusive package which meant a full buffet breakfast, light lunch (we didn't use this), afternoon tea+cake and full buffet dinner - you don't go hungry at Adler Resort. The dinner theme changes every day and whilst not 'fine dining' it is still very good and all the family found something they enjoyed. We had a couple of problems with the room both of which were responded to very quickly and this reflects on the excellent service from all the staff - they were all amazingly helpful and polite.
The one area that lets the place down is the bar. The bar itself is too small for the population, and the bar to seating area has been poorly designed by the architect leaving the bar cramped and the seating area almost too spread out. The furniture and furnishings in the seating area are more like an airport than a friendly Alpine bar - they could do much to improve it with better furniture and furnishings.
There are two pools, one inside, one outside. Both are fine for a kids splash-around but not big enough for someone keen on decent lane-swimming. The seating area near the outdoor pool unfortunately also reflects on an area of poor architecture, it isn't really outside and you miss out on a chance of a great view of the mountains.
The location of Adler Resort is excellent, a short but steep walk up from the Hinterglemm village centre. There is copious...
Read moreA year ahead of our holiday we booked the penthouse at Adler to stay there with 2 families. 5 days before our holiday we received an email that due to a booking of the owner we could no longer stay at the penthouse and were rebooked to 2 other apartments. They offered us compensation and promised the new apartments were great and we would love them once we were there. We had no idea that Adler did not own the apartments nor that the owners can just claim their apartment, regardless if they agreed to rent it out. We did not agree with the 2 apartments but they refused to honor our booking and there is just so much you can do at that timeframe in the busiest week of the year where everything is fully booked.
The 2 apartments were in no way comparable to what we originally booked in terms of facilities or level and the compensation they offered did not at all reflect the difference in experience. But more important, this was not what we aimed for when booking 1 large accommodation with 2 families. We simply would not have booked there if we could not all be in one place or we knew our booking could be changed last minute for this reason.
Things can always happen but giving priority to a last minute owner booking is just total disrespect for your paying clients who booked a year ahead and you have an agreement with. And then denying the large difference in experience and continuing to claim it is great is just a total lack of hospitality and missing the point of what people aim for when they go on holiday and book something specific. From the interaction with the owner of Adler it is clear that we have a totally different view on agreements and hospitality. You would not expect this from a 4 star resort. We will never stay...
