Situated parallel to the main street, it's an easy place to find and sits attached to a smart and new-look hotel.
The restaurant itself is good looking, with a decent sense of Austrian mountain charm. The menu is likewise, containing a good range of regional classics and a handful of unique options.
Staff were courteous, with a good grasp of English and effective in their work.
Food is moderately priced and of very good value. We did the XL Ribs and a pork medallion dish, both of which were well cooked and seasoned. The ribs dish was very large and could easily serve as a meal for 2. Pork medallions were flavourful and the accompanying tagliatelle was cooked to al denté, which was a pleasant surprise, however the gorgonzola cheese sauce for the pasta could have done with a much stronger flavour.
Desserts were enjoyable, although would need to be uplifted in some way to really compete with the overall bar set in Austria.
I'm unsure if they are owned and run by Hotel Salzburg (google searching indicates that they are), but I attempted to make a reservation by email several weeks before arriving, followed up a few times and still didn't receive a response. We ended up walking over there on the day we arrived to make the reservation. Considering the potential language barriers and the fact that we are no longer in the prehistoric age, it seems rather ridiculous to not have responded to my emails whatsoever, even though I had sent the first and follow-up in english and german.
Overall I'd say that it would be worth a try and we had no regrets selecting it as one of our 6 restaurants...

Read moreRude and disrespectful staff, there are many better restaurants in the area to spend your money on. Edit: I was accused of drinking alcohol from my thermos, after I took one sip of tea from it. There was NO ALCOHOL in there, just tea. Your waiter who lacks basic manners caused the scene in the restaurant and attacked me for no reason! He even got in my face! It is scandalous how he treats women! Even if what I did was a problem for your incompetent waiter, there is a nice way to say it. I even offered him to smell it, to prove it’s just tea, but he refused because he did not want to embarrass himself. I’ve been skiing in Austria for 7 years and never have I ever had a problem because I had thermos with tea, that is completely...
