Hotel Der Schütthof — Hotel in Zell am See

We had a super skiing trip staying here. We arrived on NYE from Salzburg using Holiday Shuttle GMBH & Co KG for the transfer, who picked us up early as our flight was ahead of schedule. We checked in at Latini, the sister hotel next door and as there had been so many cancellations due to covid, we were offered dinner in the four star hotel. The meal on NYE was six courses and would’ve easily cost £100 in a London restaurant. Later in the week we returned to dining in Schütthof and the food was good, with a wide selection available for both breakfast and dinner. There is also a free snack meal available in Latini between 3-5pm daily which is ideal after a day on the slopes. We shopped around for ski hire but ended up using the shop between the hotels as it was cheapest. The gear was really good and the service exemplary and friendly.

The hotel reception organised our ski passes so we didn’t have to queue and could walk (5 minutes) to the lift and get skiing straight away. All the staff at the hotel are super courteous and warm and speak great English.

I booked a couple of lessons whilst here and this can be done at reception. There is a store for ski gear overnight with a heated shoe rack for drying boots. The sauna/steam room area is plush and ideal after you’ve been skiing all day (it’s no swimwear but once we were used to that it was quite liberating!). Aside from the lift a five minute walk away, there’s also a regular bus into Kaprun and we really enjoyed the Kitzsteinhorn mountain (which is all included in the lift pass). There’s a gondola across to the glacier and the views are spectacular (again all included in the lift pass). There’s a really good app which shows your location on all the slopes and what colour the runs are.

We walked into Zell am See one day which takes around half an hour and is mostly along the side of the lake. It’s very pretty and the town itself is cute.

If you’re looking for welcoming ski holiday where everything has been thought of, this is the place to stay and well worth the connection from Salzburg. It’s covid secure, everyone takes mask wearing very seriously. If we can get a good price again, well definitely be back.

We do not recommend this hotel at all since it was the cause of a lot of stress on our vacation.||1.WIFI is only in the middle of the hotel, our room was at the end of the hall, ca 15m away from the WIFI transmitter so no chance of getting an WIFI (and that is in 2017!!!)||2. our room was so mini that our double bed was on one side against the wall, so I was the lucky one sleeping on that side. I could not get out of the bed from the side and could not sleep comfortably with the wall right next to me.||3. The hotel is called Erlebnishof. Nothing Erlebnis (adventure) about it||4. Breakfast: in two rooms suddlenly the tables have names so you have to go check all the tables until you find your name. Of course we didnt find our name so they put us on a table with another name! strange. and surely enough 10 min later the right owners of this table arrived so we had to move all of our breakfast to another table, how annoying.||5. The location is horrible, nothing happening in this area. Walk to Zell where the action is is half an hour. Also fast food around the hotel is tragic. ||6. The wellness area is mini and the guy at the reception tried hard to deter us from going there by saying it is really really small and nothing...

Wir waren für ein verlängertes Wochenende zum Skifahren im Schütthof mit einer größeren Gruppe. Der Check in Ging dennoch schnell von statten, der Empfang war freundlich. Mein Zimmer, ein Doppelzimmer zur Alleinnutzung, war ok. Nicht groß aber für eine Person durchaus mehr als ausreichend. Es gibt einen Schrank, einen Schreibtisch mit 2 Stühlen und je eine Nachtkommode. In der Ecke neben der Türe ist ein Duschbad eingebaut. Die Dusche ist nicht die größte, aber auch hier hab ich in Pensionen schon deutlich kleinere erlebt. Mit Duschgelspender. Auch am Waschbecken ist ein Seifenspender. Ebenso ist ein Fön installiert. Handtücher waren passend für 2 Personen vorhanden und Toilettenpapier gab es (anders als in anderen Rezensionen) sogar noch mit Ersatz. Mit der Ausstattung soweit war ich zufrieden. |Manko: die Matratze war auf der rechten Seite echt komplett durchgelegen. Zum Glück konnte ich ja auf die andere Seite ausweichen. Der Lärm von der Straße her war erträglich. Ja, als Eckhaus direkt an der Straße hört man die vorbeifahrenden Autos. Aber es war auch bei offenem Fenster erträglich. Schlimmer waren da die nachts draußen auf der Straße rumtrödelnden Gäste anderer Hotels, die lautstark durch die Gegend zogen. Aber da kann das Hotel ja nichts dafür!|Schlimmer waren die zum Teil mehr als angetrunkenen Gäste des Hauses, die nachts mit Skischuhen auf fremden Fluren ihr Zimmer suchen und an alle Türen klopfen. Oder nachts den Plastikstuhl vom Balkon auf das Vordach werfen. Als ich morgens aus dem Zimmer kam nächtigte einer der Betrunkenen sogar auf dem Flur. Da würde ich das Managment bitten ein Auge drauf zu haben. Das versaut einem schon ein bisschen den Schlaf und die Stimmung. Dafür ist das Hotel zu schade! |Das Personal war rundweg freundlich und zuvorkommend. An der Rezeption gab es Tips und Infos. Der eigene Skiverleih im Haus war noch ein Bonus. Hier konnte man auch die eigenen Skier einem Service unterziehen. Perfekt! |Zum Essen im Hotel: das Frühstück war in Buffetform und reichhaltig. Der Tee war ein bisschen versteckt ;) Das Abendessen war ebenfalls ok. Es gab stets eine Suppe, zwei Sorten Fleisch und eine Fischplatte. Beilagen hab es reichlich, ebenso wie Salate. Und das Essen war lecker! Leider war auch der Nachtisch in der gleichen Ecke versteckt wie morgens der Tee. Aber das freundliche Personal hat's uns gezeigt. In der Bar wurden die Getränke zügig und sehr freundlich serviert.||Zusammenfassend möchte ich sagen, dass es hier und da vielleicht ein bisschen sauberer sein könnte (Telefon auf dem Zimmer), die Zimmermädchen schneller sein könnten (um 15 Uhr das Zimmer noch nicht gemacht) oder vielleicht an den Fenstern auch Rollos sein könnten, damit z.B. Die Strassenlampen nicht so ins Zimmer scheinen. ABER: gemessen am Preis muss sich das Hotel sicherlich nicht verstecken!!!! Ich habe für deutlich mehr Geld schon schlechter gewohnt und gegessen. Wer first class erwartet muss first class buchen und bezahlen! |Wir waren zufrieden. Areit Bahn fussläufig zu erreichen, Bushaltestelle gleich um die Ecke. Von hier aus in 30 Minuten am Lift zum Kitzsteinhorn. In weniger als 30 Minuten am See entlang spaziert nach Zell am See. ||Vielen Dank für die schönen Tage!
