My wife and I have been frequent visitors to Bahrain in the past, with memorable experiences which Dreams are made of, but recently we experienced unimaginable events which could only be described as unacceptable, unthinkable, underestimated.
We decided to book a Seaview suite SAR 1298 after discount for one night, did not get it. Check in time was supposed to be at 3pm, we attempted three times to check in unsuccessfully, due to various excuses and apologies. Once my wife and I investigated as to why our room was not ready, we noticed that the previous guests had not yet checked out, this was after 4pm.
Eventually when the room was vacated and we were informed we could check in, it was already 5:35pm, we were informed to allow for thorough housekeeping to be done and to disinfect the room, needless to say... You guessed it, housekeeping was not done, and no disinfecting of any level. Clumps of hair lying on the bedroom floor, as if someone cleaned their hairbrush and threw it on the ground.
A smell of hake and vinegar chips filled the room, not in a pleasant way, if you can imagine. Floors were only wiped with a wet mop, no cleaning chemicals.
The main bathroom toilet was left with membrance of what can only be described as someone who had too much to drink and could not keep upright or aim...... All over the toilet, which means there is no housekeeping supervision to check and confirm level of quality.
The resort is advertised as a smoke free resort, but will you believe me when I say, I've spent time in smoking areas which had less of a tobacco cigarettes odor than what my wife and I experienced when in our room or outside, due to EVERYONE in the surrounding rooms were either smoking inside or outside their rooms.
Lastly, the pictures on the website is maybe from when the resort opened for business 10 years ago, but certainly not an accurate reflection of current state of affairs.
We felt sorry for the ladies working the front desk, who had to deal with the many unhappy and dissatisfied customers.
I guess one should always take the bad with the good, so our conclusion is that we will not make the same mistake again to spend time or money at Palavra Resort Bahrain.
The substandard service and quality may be acceptable to others, but not to me.
THIS RESORT IS NOT A 5...

This wasn’t our experience this time but was assured by the manager that as it is under new management changes were being made. Upon check in we were upgraded to a suite which was very much appreciated. The rooms are dated with dark cumbersome furniture and old creaky wardrobes with no chest of drawers, just unuseful small drawers. In our Villa there were 11 sets of heavy curtains to pull morning and night which again were dated and not suitable for a ‘Boutique Hotel. However the room was very spacious and the bed comfortable. Plenty of water left in the room and toiletries in the bathroom. Drinks are very expensive and the non availability of a buffet breakfast on some mornings not favourable. Having being informed we could get anything from the buffet this was not the case. Disappointing. The pool and beach area is magnificent and the setting of the villas is beautiful. Ladies gym very good. This has the potential to be a stunning resort but it is not there yet. The Shisha bar is a fabulous place to sit back and relax. The food was very good and with the new chef had the potential to be excellent. He came and introduced himself to us and asked how the food was. One massive shout out must go to Maria who works in the restaurant/room service. Her sparkly personality and willingness to make our stay the best was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble, what an asset to your organisation. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and hope that these ‘teething problems’...

The garden, swimming pools are amazing, beach facilities are ok but the sea water is sooo dirty!!! Notes, the beach is NOT within the same resort, you have to drive to it, which also disappointing.
they are so “cheap” and trying to take your money in every way possible. Let say you booked their suite which is over 250 dollars, at the beach, you have to pay extra for the towels. If you order from the bar anything, you have to take it yourself and the workers will tell you in a very mean way that he will not deliver it to your table or sun-bed. I understand if this is the rules, but you have to explain it Nicely….
At their breakfast, included in the price, if you ask for water to take while walking around the facility, you have to pay for it. it is not included in the breakfast”!!!!! It is just a water!!!!!! It should be free like anywhere else.
mean and poorly educated staff on customer service, I would say 90% of their staff. If not more, am just trying to be reasonable.
In Room service, I tell them to bring me 4 waters, they only bring 2 and not even cool temp! They were hot as if the box of water was kept under the sun.
Rooms needs lots of maintenance and renovations, light keeps on turning on by them self 😵💫, bathrooms smells…. The list keeps going on and on………
For the same price you can find a way better rooms and nicer staff in Bahrain (Sofitel).
I came to relax and they failed to provide that comfort in what they call a “5 star boutique...
